DailyHeiald June 3 Section 5 Active club earns school Earth Hag Montini Catholic High School in Lombard has a very active environmental science organization. Students involved in the club coordinate the school's recycling program and sponsor awareness campaigns regarding the environment. Because of their efforts, the school has been awarded the Earth Flag. Officers selected to serve next year include Christine Curry of Downers Grove, Mike Cuzba of Lombard, Rosie Serio or Downers Grove and Mary Babel of Westmont. Presidential Scholarships Among the 104 students graduating, there were seven Presidential Scholarship recipients with two students receiving more than one such distinction.

The Montini graduates, who received Presidential Scholarships included: Anthony John Caruso of Villa Park with the Carthage College President's Scholarship, DePaul University Presidential Scholarship, Drake University Presidential Scholarship. Hospital offers free tours of birth center in July GlenOaks Hospital Medical Center will offer tours of its Special Additions Birth Centre beginning at 11:30 a.m.

July 13 and 20 at the center, 701 Winthrop Glendale Heights. The free tour lasts about 45 minutes. Registration is required. For details, or to register, call (708)545-6150. CPR classes The American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation recertification class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m.

July 15. The fee to be recertified in CPR is $15. An adult CPR certification class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. July 17 and 24. The fee is $30.

An infant and child CPR class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. July 18 and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 25. In this class, participants will learn infant and child CPR, first aid for children and techniques to help a choking child or infant. Participants must attend both evenings.

It is now required that each child Day CampS be tested before entering daycare or school. The fee for the test is $15, a reduced rate. An appointment and physician's order is required. During an hour tour, participants will learn how to decipher food labels, the importance of a balanced diet and how to make heart healthy, low-fat food choices.

GlenOaks Hospital and Medical Center will offer a music, art and drama day camp for two consecutive weeks from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug.

5 through 16 at the GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School at Davea Center, 301 S. Swift Road, Addison. Designed for participants ages 11-18, the camp's activities will include singing, painting, mini plays, poetry, speeches, dancing, masks, mixing and weekly field trips. The goals of the camp are to de- velop and build creative arts skills and techniques, to enhance social skills, to facilitate self-expression and to provide two weeks of fun and enjoyment. The fee is $400.

A nature and outdoors summer day camp will meet from 8 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 through 23 at the GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School in Addison. Participants ages 11-18 will learn how to pitch a tent, read a map and compass, backpack and hike. The fee is $200.

Today's citizens making Winfield better for future The village hall rehabilitation project has begun. In case you're wondering what happened to the trees and bushes that were adjacent to the police department, you can find them beautifying other areas of town such-as Winfield Road near the school. The initial construction of the clock tower will begin soon.

The clock tower is being funded with the proceeds of the 75th Jubilee Committee's events. No tax dollars will be used for this beautiful gift to the future residents of Winfield from the residents of today. If you'd like to be a part of this gift, you can support the efforts of the 75th Jubilee volunteers. The group is planning a dinner dance Aug. 10, golf outing on Sept.

Let's get behind the efforts of the Jubilee Committee to continue to develop the future of Winfield by celebrating our history. Downtown work The Jewell Road improvements are moving into their final stages, and the renovations at John's Buffet are propelling toward completion. Meanwhile, Main Street Winfield is working on the Village Green Park adjacent to village hall. Soon we will have a beautiful, functional downtown area hopefully just in time for Good Old Days and the transition to Lake Michigan water. Work to bring lake water to the village is on schedule, and the new water tower is nearly complete.

Home inspections Winfield is continuing with the home inspection program to reduce residential sewer costs. Phase III, which will cover the area south of the tracks and east of Winfield Road, has begun. As our public works-employ-' ees come to your home to do the inspections, please note their Municipal matters Winfield Village President Marylou Crane identification badges before you allow them to enter your home, as you would with any utility inspector. Achievements Welcome to Trustee John Sti- panuk, the newly appointed board member from the Klein Creek area. John is a welcome addition to the village board and brings added business experience.

Police Chief Doug Riner recently was elected as secretary of the DuPage Police Chiefs Association. Sgt. John McNamara has been awarded training at the FBI Institute in Washington, D.C. The village recentiy won the DuKane Valley Council Award for intergovernmental cooperation and partnering for its disaster preparedness drUl known as Operation WhistleStop last April. The Government Finance Officers Association named Winfield the winner of its award for procedures in accounting, auditing and finance.

Resident Marianne Bruss recently was appointed to the Winfield Fire Protection District by County Board Chairman Gayle Franzen. Tony Badway continues to excel in music and completed a European tour recently. Village Clerk Pat Stuart has planted many flowers on the west side of the village hall, and Lynn Shimkus has prepared a 75th birthday greeting in the grass at the train station.

Our 75th Jubilee queens, Dorothy Eggenberger and Harriett Glasshagel, are continuing appearances throughout Winfield.
