12-Algona (la.) Upper Des Moin«l Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1967 CUCUMBER Kathy Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kermlt Young, Seymour, grew a 22-inch long cucumber In their garden this summer. CABBAGE One head of cabbage, weighing 11 3/4 Ibs., was taken from the Charles Furnal's garden In Ackworth this summer. Mrs. Furnal expects to get 12 quarts of kraut from it I Council Minutes The City Council met in regular session with Mayor Finn and the following council members present: Andreasen, Elbert, Cook, Miller & Peirce. Absent: Muckey. Minutes of last meeting was approved. Cigarette permit approved for Behr Standard Service. Quarterly report from the Algona Municipal Utilities was read and placed on file in the Clerk's office. Ordinance No. 461, which is the vacating of Lantry street from Elm to Linden street, was adopted. Resol. amending the current budget was adopted. This increases the expenditures in the airport fund $6,000.00. This amount is already in the fund due from increase receipts and cash balances not budgeted. Resol. approving the transfer of $5,000.00 to the General fund and 2000.00 to the Public safety fund from the Emergency fund was adopted. Public hearing for the 1968 city budget was held and being no objections to the budget it was adopted as presented. Authorized the Police Chief to attend a meeting atCedar Rapids, la.
