TWO THE TIMES Hometown newspaper of Brookshire and Katy, Texas Thursday, January 26, 1967 Pruitt Stockdick Recite Wedding Vows December 31 Miss Lynda Pruitt became the bride of Terry L. Stockdick on December 31, 1966 in the First Methodist 1i of Katy. The marriage vows were recited at 6:00 p.m. before a candlelit altar and a cathedral arrangement of white mums, gladioli and stock with palm leaves. Rev.

Harold VVaterbury, pastor of the Katy Apostolic Church, performed the double- ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Claude Pruitt of Alief, Texas. Lynda is a graduate of John Foster Dulles High School, where she was a member of the high school band and the YFC Club.

In her senior year, she won the award of "Homemaker of the At the time of her wedding she was employed by an insurance company in Houston. Terry is the son of Rev. and Mrs. W. C.

Stockdick, Jr. of Katy. He is a graduate of Katy High School, where ha was a member of the FFA, high school band and choir. He is now attending Midwest Bible Institute in Webb City, Missouri. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of formal length ivory brocade.

The princess styled bodice featured trumpet sleeves with an A line skirt. The detachable train fastened shoulder high in back, under a loose bertha extending in great folds into the chapel length train. Her bouquet was a cascading arrangement of white hyacinth blossoms and feathered carnations, centered by a large white CaUeiya orchid. English Ivy was a background for the white tulle and flower confection. The bride's sister, Mrs.

Dennis Walker of Dallas was her matron-of-honov. Susan Hill of Temple, the bride's cousin, and Rosanne Stockdick, the groom's sister, were bridesmaids. They wore formal length red velveteen dresses. Their hats were a red rose, made of velvet and tulle. Woods played the traditional organ wedding music. Mrs. W. D. Bains, the groom's aunt, sang "Whither Thou Goest" and "Wedding A niece of the bride, Marilyn Terrell of Bok- chita, Oklahoma, was the flower girl.

She wore a short, red velveteen dress. Ring bearer was Kevin Cook, the groom's cousin. Mrs. Pruitt wore a pink lace two-piece dress, shoes to match and white accessories. Her corsage was a white feathered carnation.

Cornelius is formerly from Athens, Texas. Jick Rhoads Named To College Staff Jack Rhoads has accepted a position on the coaching staff at Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches. He will be defensive line coach. Jack ettered four years at Katy and won a scholarship to SMU.

He lettered 3 years on the varsity at SMU and was one of the tri-captains during his senior year. He received his masters at SMU and since that time has been line coach at Deer Park High School. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. 0.

E. Rhoads. He and. his wife will be moving to Nacogdoches as he starts there this week. Keiy HOC Hie! 16 Members of the Katy Home Demonstration Club held their first meeting of the new year at the home of Mrs.

Marie House Monday, January 16 with 6 regular members present. Four new members were welcomed to the club, Miss Christine Baker, Mrs. L. J. Parsley, Miss Lucille Fisher and Mrs.

E. G. Withrow. Mrs. Cecil Ledbetter.

Cecil Ledbetter gave the council report. As recreation Mrs. John Morrison asked each one to write new year resolutions using the word "New Many interesting resolutions were read. The program Food Facts Versus Food Fallacies was not given at this meetings as no one attended the workshop. The program will be studied at a later date.

Bains, on Tuesday vening, Neighbor Lois )alton was installed as Jracle of Dixie Camp, loyal Neighbors of America. She, with her efficient core of officers, )ledged a good year for the Camp. The audit for 1966 was approved, the activities of 1966 were noted and a gift was made Mesdames Willie Sue Cooper, Cora McCauley and Jim Bennett. United Daughters Meet Cardiff The United Daughters of the Confederacy met during January in the the home of Mrs. C.

C. Cardiff at Katy. There were seven members and one visitor, Mrs. James Chandler, present. Due to the absence of the president, Miss Ogg, Mrs.

Sadler presided. The roll call was answered by giving ones favorite recipe for the New Year. Mrs. Wells, as program chairman, gave the religious views of three outstanding men of the south. The men so honored were Gen.

Robert E. Lee, Jackson and Maur. These men reflected their belief and allegiance to God and have always been honored by the southland and by many honorable men of the north. During the fellowship following the meeting delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Cardiff.

11--Seaman Recruit Charles V. Ray, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd T. Ray of Katy, Texas, is undergoing nine weeks of basic training at the Naval Training Center here.

He is receiving instructions in Naval customs, courtesies and organization, ordnance and gunnery, seamanship, damage control, first aid, swimming and survival, shipboard drills and sentry duty. A program of physical fitness, military drill and inspections keeps the recruits mentally and physically alert during their training. His Navy Classification tests will determine whether he will be assigned to a school, shore station or ship after his graduation.
