Norman L. Porter 89, Frankfort, died Aug. 14, 2009. He retired as a United Methodist minister after 42 years with the New England Conference. Rev.

Porter held degrees from Taylor, Colby and Boston universities and was involved in many civic organizations. Memberships included the Preachers Aid Society. He was a two-time past master of the Masonic Lodge, where he was a 50-year member. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pulsifer Norman; two daughters, Winona Adams (husband Rick) and Elaine Witherbee (husband Gary); two brothers, Maurice Porter and Glendon Porter; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Hanner is survived by his sister, Linda Hanner; his aunt, Beverly Moore (Gary); and his uncle, Wayne (Norma) Harmon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Emogene Harmon on November 7, 2005. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Friday, August 21, 2009 at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, 105 W. Ruby Patricia "Trish" Goodwin 62, of Zi-onsville, Indiana, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, i aner Ik courageously living with ovarian cancer for more than two years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amie Peele Carter and C. Stuart Carter, her daughter and daughter-in-law, Mel-anie and Holly Martin-Peele, and two grandchildren, McLean Stuart Carter and Lily Frances Carter, as well as four siblings: Paul Lesley Goodwin, Deborah Lynn Goodwin Cashwell, Philip Douglas Goodwin, James Hunter Goodwin, and their families. Ms.

Goodwin was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 27, 1946. She graduated from Hobbton High School in 1964 and from Campbell College in 1968. An interior decorator for over 25 years, she most recendy worked at Fineline Furniture in Indianapolis before retiring earlier this summer. Ms. Goodwin was an active member of Christ Church Cathedral, Indianapolis, and Chapter DE of P.E.O.

She enjoyed being "Kiki" to her grandchildren, traveling, her book club, and British mysteries, particularly Agatha Christie's Her-cule Poirot She gave joy and hope to everyone she met, and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:30 7 pm at the home she shared with the Carters: 8770 Lily Court, Zionsville. To celebrate her life, a Eucharist of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral on Monument Circle. A light luncheon will follow.

Floyd was a Superintendent for Apartment Buildings for over 30 years in Brooklyn, NY retiring in 1979. He served in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Franklin and was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Helen V.Berte 82, of Plainfield, passed away August 19, 2009. She was born August 1, 1927 to the late Thomas and Eleanor (Stewart) Angel in Covington, KY. She was a home-maker and a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Larry W. Berte; two sons, Larry E.

and Michael T. Berte; three brothers, Thomas, James, and Kenneth Angel; and 6 grandchildren. He was born January 13, 1944 in Indianapolis to Jack D. and Janice Stalker Cronin. He was a graduate of DePauw University in 1966 and Indiana University School of Law in 1969. He was an attorney in the Indianapolis area for 40 years. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, American Bar Association, and Indiana State Bar Association.

He was a volunteer at St Joan of Arc youth sports program, a volunteer at the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis and he was an avid woodworker. John is preceded in death by his parents Jack D. Cronin and Janice Cronin Michael and his wife Jane Copeland Cronin. He is survived by his daughters Kelly C. Mosley and Heather A.

Cronin, sister Jennifer Beh-rens, granddaughters Lauren and Sophia Mosley. Funeral services will be Monday, August 24 at 10 AM at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary (71st and Keystone Ave). Steven Russell Nelson 58, of Martinsville, Indiana passed away August 18, 2009. Steven was born on June 15, 1951 in Evanston, IL to Roy and Laura Nelson.

He was an avid out-doorsman who loved canoeing, hiking, and most importantly spelunking. Steven also had an amateur radio operator's license. Steven was preceded in death by his father: Roy Werner Nelson. He is survived by children: Ian (Stephanie) Nelson and Ashlee Nelson, grandchildren: Casin Nelson, Reidun Nelson and Nikolai Nelson; mother: Laura May Nelson; siblings: Leslie "Mirfi" (Albert) Nelson, Diana L. She was born November 24, 1923 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Fred and Mary Collins. Mary retired from AMPI after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Edmund Pope and her son Guy Pope.

Survivors include her daughter Roberta L. Wolk-off, sister Emma R. Greig, 3 grandchildren Marshall Wolkoff, Bradley Nicole Wolkoff, Blair Elyse Wolkoff, a niece, nephew and her best friend Little One. 59, Indianapolis, passed away on, August 12, 2009. She was employed at the Army Finance Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison as a transportation clerk for 30 years. 82, Greenfield, widower of Carol Jean (Kurtz) Simms, passed away on August 20, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born in Clinton, IN, on February 6, 1927, to Joseph Ward and Lillian (Sykes) Simms. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. In addition to employment at the Indianapolis Star and Amtrak, he owned and operated both Simms Bike Shop and Lakeview Mobile Home Park in Greenfield.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Janet Simms Gulden, Judy (Russ) Thompson; son, Joseph Matthew (Kyle) Simms; grandsons, Jason (Cathy) Sipe, Andrew (Tracey) Gulden, Brent Thompson, Jason (Jennifer) Thompson; greatgrandchildren, Samantha and Hunter Gulden, Gabriel and Luke Thompson, and Taylor, Cole and Allie Thompson. Also surviving are four sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, August 23 at 5:00 p.m. at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2265 West US. 40, Greenfield, IN.
