Joseph Bradley, owner of Joe Bradley Equipment in Algona, was recently elected a member of the St. Paul Zone Dealer Council for CMC trucks. Bradley is the only dealer from Iowa on the council, which is elected by CMC dealers in a four-state area. Bjustrom d Mr. and Mrs. Howard Boyer, Waukee,are coming to get Mrs. Beyer's mother, Mrs. Alma Madden and their daughter Becky Sunday. Mrs. Madden will go to Des Moines for her six week check up after her surgery in June. Becky will go to camp and then in a week they will bring Mrs. Madden and Becky back to LuVerne. Mr. and Mrs. J.A. DiPirro, Buffalo, New York, are visiting Mrs. DiPirro's grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Eggleston. They came on Tuesday of last week. On Wednesday evening they had a picnic at Corwith at the home of Mrs. Eggleston' s granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chambers'. There were 33 present: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Henry, Eagle Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Block and son, Rolfe; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Glawe and children, Corwith; Mrs. Walter Schmeling and children, Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nygaard and Chris, Wesley; Beulali Eggleston, West Des Moines; Mrs. Betty West, Linwood, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chambers, Corwith; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Eggleston, LuVerne; Delores Eggleston, Algona; and Mrs. Myrtle Eggleston, LuVerne. They received phone calls from Doris Eggleston, Des Moines, who is vacationing in Miami, Fla.; ind Bill Roster's, Sioux Center. Notice is hereby given that ;he City Council of the City of Ugona, Kossuth County, Iowa, *ill meet at the City Hall in Algona, Iowa, on the 30th day of August, 1907 at 8:00p. m.,CDST, at which time and place a hearing will be held and said Council proposes to adopt plans, specifications and form of contract and to receive bids for the construction of storm sewer improvements and sanitary sewer improvements and extensions to the storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems of said City and to act upon proposals received and enter into a contract or contracts for the construction of said improvements and extensions. In general, the work to be done in connection with the storm sewer improvements and the extension to the storm sewer system consists of furnishing all labor, materials an* equipment needed and required to extend the existing 48" R.C.P. storm sewer located on Elm Street extended easterly from MainStreet from 266 feet East of the centerline of Main Street to 32.7 feet East of the centerline of Putnam Street. The approximate quantities of materials on which bids will be requested in connection with this improvement are : 48" 2000 D R.C.P. - 428 L.F. Head Wall, Remove and Re- place - One Job. All proposals and bids in connection herewith shall be submitted to City Clerk of said City on or before the time herein set for said hearing. All proposals shall be made on official bidding blanks furnished by the City and any alterations in the official form of proposal will entitle the City Council at its option to reject the proposal involved from consideration. Each proposal shall be sealed and plainly identified. Each proposal shall be accompanied in a separate envelope by a certified check in an amount equal to 10 per cent of the bid price, drawn on and certified to by a bank in Iowa, payable to the City Treasurer of Algona, Iowa, as security that if awarded the contract by resolution of the City Council, the bidder will enter into a contract at the prices bid and will furnish the required surety bond. This certified check may be cashed and the proceeds retained by the City of Algona, Iowa, as agreed liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract or file an acceptable bond for the faithful performance thereof within ten days after the acceptance of his proposal by resolution of the City Council. No bidder may withdraw a proposal for a period of thirty days after the opening of all bids for this proposed construction. Payment for said improvements and extensions will be made in cash from cash on hand in the Sanitation Fund, or the Street Fund, of the City of Algona, Iowa, and shall be paid in full thirty days alter the completion and acceptance of said project. The successful bidder will be • required to furnish a bond in an amount equal to 100 per cent of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety and approved by the City Council and shall guarantee Ihe faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, and shall guarantee prompt payment for all materials and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contractor, and shall also guarantee the work against faulty workmanship and materials for a period of two years from and after its completion and acceptance by the City Council. The work under the proposed contract shall be started in sufficient time after the award of the contract to permit its com- pletion within sixty (60) working days but on or before December 15, 1967. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids. By virtue of statuory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor, Plans and specifications and form of contract governing the construction of the proposed improvements and extensions and also prior proceedings of the City Council referring to and defining said proposed improvements and extensions are hereby made a part of this notice by reference and the proposed contract or contracts shall be executed in compliance therewith. Plans and specifications and form of contract are now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Algona, Iowa, where they may be examined by any interested party. Copies may be obtained from Wallace Holland Kastler & Schmitz of MasonCity, Iowa, consulting engineers on the project, and no charge will be made to bona fide interested bidders.
