Youth Leaders Of 4-H Plan July 31 Picnic Kossuth county 4-H youth leaders will meet Monday, July 31, at 7 p.m. for a potluck picnic at Call State Park shelter house, says Galen DeValois, county extension director. All 4-H members 15 and older are invited to attend the meeting. Dr. Jerry Shey, veterinarian from Algona, will speak about and demonstrate drugs at the meeting. Other'events of the evening will be mixers, a treasure hunt and recreation. Galen says the planning committee is working very hard to have a good program and are encouraging new and older 4-H boys and girls to attend. Members of the youth leader planning committee are Susan Dodds, Lone Rock; Jane Walker, Burt; Kathy Skow, Wesley; John Kiley, Burt; Steve Detrick, Whittemore; Leonard Becker, Wesley; Chuck Frideres, Algona; and Becky Tiele- bein, Algona. Annual Tour The annual tour of the Union Boy's 4-H club was held in June. After the tour, a picnic dinner for all the families was at the civic center. The regular monthly meeting was July 11. It was decided to have an ice cream social at the civic center Aug. 1. The August meeting on the 8th will be a judging workout at Nitchals farm. R. J. Hatpin, Ex-Algonan, Is Promoted A native of Algona, R.J. Halpin, has been promoted to the newly created position of Production Employee Training and Development Manager for Kent Feeds, Inc. at the firm's home office in Muscatine. Halpin, a 1940 graduate of Algona High School, has been with Kent and its parent corporation, Grain Processing Corporation, since 1951. Since 1962 he has been serving as Manager of Engineering for Kent, and was directly responsible for the engineering, bidding, contracting and construction of Kent's new plants Tuesday, July 25, 1967 Algona (la.) In his new position, he will initiate an expanded training and safety program for all production employees at all Kent plants. He is a graduate of Iowa State University in civil engineering. He was City Engineer for Muscatine from 1947 to 1951. At ISU Meeting Ames, Iowa —Students who will be incoming freshmen intheCol- •lege of Agriculture at Iowa State University in September have been attending orientation rrieet- ings on campus this past week.
