Patterson Leaving Tascosa AMAftlLLA tex. (AP) P. (Hi) Pattersdtt, who built AH outstanding record in eight yjjafs as head coach of Tascosa High School here, is going to the University of Texas to be fin assistant to Darrell Royal. Patterson, whose team last ek was eliminated in the of the state school- race, resigned Monday Tascosa school board ac- tffcpted "with regrets," Pfltterson had been with the school since it opened nine years ago, being assistant coach the first year and succeeding Bi Ellington as head coach the second, Ellington also went to the tJniversity of Texas coaching staff. In his eight years at Tascosa, Patterson's teams won 69, lost 17 and tied 3 games, winning the district championship three of (he last four years.

Tascosa went to the state semifinals in 1963 and 1564, losing each time to 'Garland, the eventual state champion. 102, Centenary Mexia's Fightin' Black Cats hogged the 12AA all-district team, selected by the league's coaches and released today. Mexia placed 12 on the top offensive and defensive units. This included seven on the first offensive team. Mexia had one on the second offensive club and one on the second team defense. Offensive honorable mention named two Mexiaites, tion list for offense are Teague's Butch Cox; a center; McGregor's Bill Hurst and Carl Brinkley, backs; and Groesbeck end Jim Longbotham.

Fullingim of Odessa opened the 131st annual Grand Communication of the 'Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas today in Waco. The only Hearne player in double figures was Marvin Zeig. who had 17 points. The Fighlin' Cats held the celebrated Pete Martin to six points. Mexia hit 33 per cent from the field, connecting on 18 of 54 tries. Coach Jerry Stone missed the services of ace floor man, Gary Thomas, who is nursing an injury.
