The fact that Geneva lost heavily to Napervllle last week is no Indication ef what may transpire at the Kane county seat's gym Saturday. Napervllle has a powerful squadron again and was rated as a favorite over Geneva before the first peep of the whistle. In spite of that, Geneva rolled up 25 points. Rivalry between all teams In the Little Seven Is keen and It Is no less dull at eGneva.

Only this week the sharp shooting' Rifles defeated Beloit with a 1434 total in which one of Its members battered the target for 296. Rockford' has two rifle teams. One Is the Pla-Mor squad and the other is the Rockford Rifles. The latter do emuch practice shooting and have always been leaders, either champions or near champions of the Rock River Valley Rifle League. Sycamore has four straight victories, so far this season.

And it is recalled that Sycamore maintained a top place position the league last season right up to the last when the Rifles finally won. Sycamore high school basketball teams are facta a double bill this week with Batavla on the home court Friday night and the Spartans going to Geneva on Saturday night. In that concise statement there Is a mass of dynamite, much of which emlnates in the Batavla game.

Batavla lost to St. Charles by mere two points but forced East Aurora Into three overtime periods before the beacon dty lads could win. It is a matter of recent history what East Aurora did to DeKalb. Expect Battle Meanwhile Sycamore has three victories already on the books but none of them came from teams of Batavia's caliber. At least that Is the way the dope points on paper.

In other words Sycamore basketball fans will have opportunity to view some of the most exciting hostilities of the season so far, and might well be one of the best games of the entire season. Batavla has long been a mean customer for Sycamore to handle. Years ago a tournament was held either at Batavla or at Aurora. At any rate, memory recalls that Batavla defeated Sycamore to halt the rush toward a championship Sycamore was enjoying at that momentand was Sycamore Irate? Oh boy. E. Dutton is again a Christmas tree. Annually Mrs. Dutton directs the decorating of the tree with colored lights to help beautify Sycamore at Christmas time. Several homes about the city have turned on the lights ef the decorated trees located on porches or in the lawns.

As the Christmas beauty Idea swings Into its momentum It is the thought of many that by this time next week end Sycamore win once gain have become a dry of brilliant beauty. From results at his own Missouri Experiment Station, and many others, my guess is thst this farmer would secure Just as efficient results by feeding the grain dry a self-feeder and save himself all of the labor of mixing slop and feeding by hand. Both his oats and his barley were planted in the fall.

Note the large automatic waterer in the foreground. Weevils in Beans Iowa Experiment Station reports that stored beans can be protected from weevil damage by sifting hydra ted lime through the beans. For more than 3 bushels of beans use 1 lb. of lime to each 6 lbs. of beans.

For smaller quantities use a higher percentage of lime. Cutting Red Clover rf Cutting red clover after the first of September in Iowa is a mistake-according to Iowa Experiment Station. Their results show that late-cut red clover is much more liable to become diseased and that some varieties of red clover will stand for three or four years if late cutting is avoided. Pink Eye in Sheep Sheep afflicted with pink eye should have their eyes treated daily with either a 6 solution of frohly-prepared argyrol or a 1 silver nitrate solution according to Colorado Experiment Station. Drop the solution into the lower eyelid and confine the affected sheep in clean, dry, dark quarters where they are protected from wind, dust and glare.

Silage From Sorghum Refuse Here is an idea from Texas that has value for sorghum syrup makers other states. For a good many years J. H. Dye of Stephens Covnty, Texas, has been making silage after extracting the juice. He puts both leaves and crushed stalks through a cutter and then stores the feed in a pit silo.

Water should be added if the stalks dry out too much Weaning Colts If colt have been accustomed to eating some gram, they can safely be weaned at 8 months of as according to Iowa Experiment Station. If the mares are receiving ST in up to weaning time, their grain ration -should be reduced COTr about two days before the colts are removed and from then until they dry up. Their udders should be carefully watched and milked out when aecesssry but not at frequent intervals. Finish Those Turkeys New Mexico Experiment Station is emphasising the Importance of getting a prime finish on your turkeys, especially in years like this one when prices are uncomfortably close to cost of production or even below R. When the supply exceeds the demand, turkey buyers dock the thin and "pinny" birds heavily.

Each bird should be caught and examined before marketing and those having a blue appearance or short pin feathers should be held out for additional fattening. New Codling Moth Spray Over a period of years Michigan Experiment Station has success-. fully controlled codling moth in apple orchards with a new spray mixture that avoids the necessity of washing the apples to remove excess arsenic This spray is a combination of nicotine sulphate as the killing agent and bentonite clsy to prolong the efficiency of the nicotine. No arsenic was included, hence, in addition to doing away with washing, this spray also avoided burnt oliage and skin blotches. Inoculating Soybeans The doctors do not agree on the question of Inoculating soybeans Results at Illinois Experiment Station lead their soybean experts to believe thst one inoculation of bean seed on any bean field is sufficient while the Wisconsin Experiment Station has found it profitable to inoculate the seed every time even on fields where soybeans were grown the previous year.

The bulk of my evidence from all over the country indicates that inoculating every time wfll at least increase the nitrogen gathering ability of the bean plants so I am going to inoculate each year. Space for Brooder Chicks Most of os put too many ehkks In our brooders and If you dont believe crowding is important. Just read these figures from the California Experiment Station. Seventy-three thousand chicks were brooded with leas than S5 sq. ft.

of brooder house floor per 100 ehkks and death losses were over 26. Twenty-five thousand chicks ware brooded with between S3 and SO sq. ft. of brooder house floor per 100 chicks and death losses were about And. when another 25 thousand chicks ware brooded with more than 0 sq.

ft. of brooder boose floor per 100 ehkks, the mortality dropped to about 13. N's tttt ef tedag 0 LUCILLE BALL LUCILLE BALL Ttv 1 yturiiD hilt i ryn DENNIS O'KEEFE t. eeroresi V. 1 Bars "1 I re "fcf ht.r I Tt Fist toti Kids Uo Sat.
