Vernon Place Methodist Church of Washington, D. was the scene of a pretty wedding on June 13, 1953, when Miss Marilyn MacMurray 'and Lt. Clair Lyle Rishel, USA, were united in marriage. Miss MacMurray is the daughter of CoJ. and Mrs.

Paul H. MacMurray of Washington, D. C. Lt, Rishel is the son of Mrs. Bessie M.

Rishel of Alexandria, Pa. Dr. Albert D. Shirsky, pastor of church, performed the doublt ring ceremony at 4:30 p. m.

Dr. R. Deane Stiure, church organist, presented a short recital prior to the ceremony. He the traditional wedding marches and accompanied Miss Shirley Boggs, who sang "Because," Perfect Love" and "This Is Our Wedding Pay." Church decorations included a white bower interspersed with flowers shading from pink to lavender; white ribbons and white flowers were also used. The bridal couple recited their vows in front of the bower.

Candles were used effectively about the altar. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wag a picture of loveliness in a gown of ivory satin with a long train. The lace yoke inset with two medallions of ivory satin and pearls. Her headdress was a tiara crown of ivory satin and pearls a finger-tip veil of ivory net. The bridal bouquet waa of white orchids surrounded with white roses and stephanotis.

Her jewelry wag pearl earrings and a pearl necklace. The maid of honor was Miss Joyce Bell of Portsmouth, Virginia, whose gown was niie green tulle with which wore pink accessories. Her bouquet was of oleander orchids surrounded by pink rosebuds. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Nancy Davidson, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs.

She carried a gold purse with a wristlet of baby green vanda orchids. The bridegroom's mother wore a royal blue lace gown with pink accessories and a pink rosebud corsage. Lt. Lindsay P. Henderson of Savannah, Georgia, served as best man.

The ushers were Lt. Alvin Smith of Alexandria, Virginia; Lt. Jack Simmons, Lt. John Mora, Mr. Don Eaton, all of Washington, D.

brothers of the bride. Following the wedding, a reception was held in the church spcial hall for appioximately 400 guests. Ths five-tiered wedding cake was topped with a miniature bridal couple and was cut and served along with other refreshments. Mrs. Rishel was.

graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Westhampton College, University of Richmond in Virginia, in June 1952. She waa probation receptionist at Juvenile Court, Washington, D. since her graduation. Her father is commissioner of the U. S.

Court of Claims. Lt. Rishel was graduated from Alexandria High School in the class of 1945. He was employed at the Glenn L. Martin Airplane Factory in Baltimore, before enlisting in the Army.

He saw action with the 25th Infantiy Division in Korea where ha was awarded four combat decorations, including the Silver Star. Lt. Rishel is now assigned, to the Foreign Liaison Office, Department of the Army and is working toward a degree in political science at the University of Maryland. Wedding guests were present from Alexandria, Mount Vernon, Indiana; Richmond, Va. Newark, Culpepper, Va.

Hartford, Baltimore, Md. Williamsburg, Washington, D. C. and Alexandria, Va. Foreign guests included representatives from China, Peru, and Sweden.

Schirm Miss Frances Louise Croyle of Petersburg, and Mr. James Edward Schirm of Alexandria, were united in marriage on Fridav evening, June 26, 1953 at eight o'clock in the Petersburg Zion Lutheran Church. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev.

George E. Nein, pastor of the church. The new Mrs. Schirm is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Jacob Croyle of Petersburg, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Schirm of Alexandria. The church was decorated with palms, white carnations and roses. Lighted candles in candelabra shed a soft glow during the exchange of vows.

Mrs. Martha Whitesel of Petersburg presided at the organ and played "Ave Maria," "Indian Love Call," "Traumerei," "Through the Years," "Sweetest Story Ever Told," and Perfect Love." Mr. Edward Harshbarger, cousin of the bricle, sang "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee," "Because" and "The Lord's Prayer." The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was lovely in a ballerina-length gown which had a fitted lace and nylon net bodice, long sleeves which ended in points over the wrists. Her finger-tip veil was attached to a.

crown of lace and seed pearls and she carried white orchids on a prayer, book from which fell satin streamers. Mrs. Lillian Houck of Petersburg, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Her gown was pink taffeta with a net overskirt and matching net stole. She carried a Colonial bouquet of pink rosebuds and baby's-breath.

Mr. David Hesser of Mill Creek, brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. The ushers were Mr. David Schirm of Alexandria, cousin of the bridegroom and Mr! Raymond Taylor, Petersburg cousin of the bride. The bride's mother was seen in navy blue dress with navy and white accessories.

She wore corsage of Talisman roses. Mrs. Schirm, mother of the bridegroom, wore a powder blue dress with navy accessories and a Talisman rose corsage. A reception for the guests followed the wedding in the social room of the church. The bridal table was decorated with candles and roses and the centerpiece was a three-tiered wedding with a bride and bridegroom in miniature.

Out-of-town guesU attended from. Alexandria, State Colleg-e, Huntingdon, Mapleton, Washington, Baltimore, and New Jersey. When the couple, left for a wedding trip to Virginia and other Southern States, Mrs. Schirm was wearing a pink faiJle dress with a matching bolero, white accessories and a white orchid corsage from her bridal bouquet. She was graduated from the Juniata Valley High School in the class of 1952 and is employed by Swigart Associates, Huntingdon.

The bridegroom was also graduated from the Juniata Valley High Sohool in the class of 1952. He is an employe of the Alexandria Fire Clay Company in Alexandria. Mr. and Mrs. Schirm will reside at the home of the bride's parents.

SURPRISE PARTY GIVEN TO HONOR LININGER BROTHERS A. surprise birthday party was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Morris of Hesston R.
