LOCALS MR. AMD MRS. Murl Potter spent last weekend at their cottage at Spirit Lake. Last Tuesday they were inDesMoines where a meeting of the Hamms Co. was held at the Kirkwood hotel. MR. AND MRS. Gordon Kuhn had as dinner guests Sunday their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Klein and Rick. It was a Father's Day observance and a birthday anniversary observance for Mr. Klein. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kuhn have as a guest Mrs. Daisy Meyer, Cleveland, Ohio, sister of Mrs. Kuhn, who came Monday. They will go to Emmetsburg to visit another sister, Mrs. Hattie Clum. MR. AND MRS. Ted Herbst, Lori and Teri returned Wednesday from a six day vacation in the south and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Logan at Shelbyville, Ky., near Louisville. Mrs. Herbst and Mrs. Logan were college roommates. MRS. MILTON DAHL has been visited by her daughter, Mrs. Merle Pratt, Debbie and David, Iowa Falls. The visit was rather brief. MR. AND MRS. Ivan Johnson, former farmers at Williams, retired not long ago and went to Chicago to make their home. They found they do not like the city and are coming to Algona to live. Mr. Johnson is a brother of Hugo Johnson and Mrs. Emma Knudsen. DR. LYLE ELLIS has returned to his home at Hartford, Conn., after coming here with his wife, Yarda, who will spend the summer with her sister, Segrid, Mrs. Frank Kohlhaas. Dr. Ellis will return later to accompany his wife home. MR. AND MRS. Ivan Parrott have been visited by their sons, Tech. Sgt. Max Parrott, South Sioux City, who is with the Air Force and leaving for Vietnam the 22nd, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Parrott, Marshalltown. Sgt. Parrott is associated with the univac computer division. MRS. HENRY FURST went to Mason City last Sunday and was a dinner guest of her sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Shatto and Mrs. Ethel Woolridge. She also for the first time saw her grandniece, Rhonda Sue Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Holmes. MRS. FRANK VERA, her brothers and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hagen of Titonka and Fred Hagen, went to Rock Island Friday for a weekend visit and at Moline, HI. with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mullarky and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hill, respectively. Mrs. Vera expects her daughter, Mrs. Don Johnson and son, Phoenix, Ariz. RECENT GUESTS at the N. J. Weydert home, St. Joe, for 10 days were Mrs. Weydert's sister and family, the C. C. Patricks, Long Island, N. Y. Mrs. Patrick attended a 25th reunion of graduate nurses at St. Mary's, Rochester. MR. AND MRS. George Powers spent last week at Cross Lake, Minn, at Schneider's Resort on a week's vacation. GAYLE PHILLIPS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Phillips, went to Madison, Wise, last Wednesday to act as maid of honor at the wedding of a college friend. She returned Sunday. THREE COUPLES, Mr. and Mrs. DuWayne Klein, Mayor and Mrs. Bill Finn, Algona, and Dr. and Mrs. J.K. Hill of Titonka are leaving the latter part of the week for a vacation at Schneider* s Resort on Cross Lake, Minn. MR. AND MRS. Raymond Heller and children, Buckingham, El., are visiting relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Marshall, Mrs. Bea Baldwin and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bierstedt. The Hellers and the Marshalls spent last week at Cross Lake, Minn, and reported the fi,sMng excellent. This week the Hellers and Bea Baldwin are spending some time at the Baldwin cottage at East Okoboji.
