Upper Des Moinej FENTON - At the annual awards assembly at Sentral High School the fallowing were presented award: The citizenship award, given by the Io - ra Bar Association, vas presented to Richard Shaw. The Salutatorian award was given to Mary Lou Larsen, who earned a grade point of 3.88 on a 4-point scale. Janeu ^ewnrougn received the valedictorian honor, completing her high school career with a 3.97 average. The Betty Crocker Homemaking Award to Renee Douglas, the outstanding senior music award to Mary Lou Larsen; the Hawkeye Boy's State Delegates were Robert Krause from the Fenton Post, Owen Kerber from the Lone Rock post. Hawkeye Girl's State Delegates are Mary Ellen Ditsworth from the Lone Rock Auxiliary, Jacquelyn Jones from the Fenton Auxiliary; the American Legion Oratory award to Robert Krause; national mathematics award to Janell Xewbrough; national poetry press certificate to Gene Hartman and Enin Root. The summer reading program of Sentral School will start June 12 and will run for six weeks. Classes will be held five days a week from 8:30 to 11:30 at the Sentral High School buildingjtea- chers will be Mrs. Don Blanchard, Mrs. Emil Bleckwenn, Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Pingel. The summer recreational program of Sentral School will be under the direction of Mr. Robert Rice and will begin June 12. The students from the Fenton area will go to the Bancroft swimming pool on Monday and Thursday, the students from the Lone Rock area will go to the pool at Swea City on Tuesday and Friday. The Pee Wee and Midget games and practice will begin at 1:30 p.m. and practices and games will be held at the high school. High school practice will begin at 6:00 p.m. Girls softball practice will be from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Sentral high school. The summer instrumental music program of Sentral School will be under the direction of Mr. Warren Jones and will begin June 5th at the Sentral High School building.
