2-Algona (la.) Upper Det Moinet Timday, May 23, 1967 VERN LUDWIG, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernell Ludwig, is attending four months training at Newport, R. L in U.S. navy Officer's Candidate School. He will receive an Ensign's rank and will be in the civil engineering corps. MRS. BERNICE Besch and E. R. Cobb of West Bend visited the former's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Besch, one day last week. They also called on friends at the Good Samaritan homes. Mr. and Mrs. Besch have also been visited by Mrs. H. A, Wirtz, Estherville. MR. AND MRS. August Slagle have as guest the latter's sister, Mrs. Selby Russell of Mountain Home, Ark. She came to attend the fiftieth wedding anniversary of the Slagles, which was observed May 21 with open house. MR. AND MRS. Glenn Chally and family spent last Sunday at Stratford with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L L. Chally. MRS. HUGH Colwell went to Adel last Saturday and remained till Wednesday thus spending Mothers Day with her son- in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Harold Banwart. MR. AND MRS. Willis Colwell spent last Sunday at Clarion with Mrs. Colwell's mother Mrs. 0. D. Day. MRS. HARRY Cutler spent Mothers Day at Cedar Rapids with her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Connor. It was a Mothers Day observance and other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Connor, Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Connor, Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Cutler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Wilson, Alta. MOTHERS DAY guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Muckey were their daughter, Mrs. EthelineAllisand daughter Sheree, Minneapolis, their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dahlhauser, and the Dahlhauser's son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Umbrell and children, Spencer. MR. AND MRS. Nels Anderson spent Sunday at New Hampton with the former's mother, Mrs. Rachel Anderson. MR. AND MRS. Ralph Donovan had their son Bob and family of Humboldt as Mothers Day guests. Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Donovan went to Okoboji and spent the day at their cottage. They have been spending a little time there getting it prepared for summer use. There is more work than usual this year at all the cot- tages due to the wind and dirt storms. MR. AND MRS. Gilbert Buscher had as dinner guests last Sunday the latter's parents Mr. and Mrs. Pat Doerning. MR. AND MRS. Jerry Dutton and family came Friday from Omaha for a weekend visit with the parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dutton, and brother Jack and family. MRS. GRACE Lavrenz, Oseo, Minn., was here last Sunday and was guest of her sister-in-law and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Dutton. DR. A. J. Eason, Larry Knoll, Dick Kain and Doyle Dailey plan to spend the last four days of May in Minnesota fishing.
