Upper Des Moines Tuesday, May 9, 1967 Extension Will Offer Several Lessons Here The Extension home economics committee is busy with plans for interesting and educational programs for 1968. Training schools for leaders of organized clubs, plus packet lessons will be available as a service to any club group in the county. Meetings of special Interest are open to all who wish to attend, include short courses on interior decoration, child development and nutrition. A style show on launderable clothes is scheduled for November. Watch for more information on the home economics Extension courses which are open to any one in Kossuth county. 27 Mothers In Course Here A total of 27 young mothers were enrolled in the Extension short course on "Development and Behavior of the Pre-School Child" held recently at the Kossuth County Extension office. The group reported that films and discussions were equally interesting to them. Names of nearly thirty young mothers who did not attend are on file in the Extension office as possible members of a similar short course that will be offered next February. TOWN& COUNTRY Meet Don Baade Of Titonka Our Country Neighbor this week is Donald Baade, who farms four miles south of Titonka. Born at Wesley, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baade, Mr. Baade and his wife and family have been on the present farm for nine years. During a normal crop year, Don raises corn, oats and beans and has some pasture and hay land. His dairy herd is his favorite job around the farm, ranking ahead of planting, cultivating, etc. He is a member of the Good Hope Lutheran church and the flying club here and owns an airplane. Flying, hunting and fishing are his hobbies. He has been a resident of Kossuth all his life. Mrs. Baade is the former Janice Ostrum, who was raised at Algona where she also attended school. They met on a blind date and were married at Algona in 1955. She is active in church organizations and has had flight instruction, an interest she shares with her husband.
