John Beardsley, Stoneboro R. provided an ideal setting for the outdoor party held Thursday by the MereoY County Democratic Women's Club. The principal speakers were Af- tnrney John R. Boland, Sharon and Attorney Hiram M. Drake.

McComb, Stoneboro. county vice chairman, also spoke briefly. Refreshments were served from a lace-covered table which was centered with an arrangement of summer blooms. Mrs. John R.

Boland, and Mrs. Hiram Drake presided at the tea and coffee services. Mrs. James Friel, West Middlesex, president of the county club presided at the business meeting. Iroquois Club Holds Ml other-Daughter Day Blessed perfect summer weather, Thursday's Mother and Daughter Day at the Iroquois Club house proved delightful to the 52 women and girls attending. Several three-generation groups wore included at the annual party. When "statistics" taken, it was found that Mrs. C. H.

Ingraham was the oldest mother present, Mrs. Henry Fish, Erie, the former Lauraria Schultz, and Mrs. F. W. Sensing, of New York the former Margie McKee, tied with honors for being the youngest mothers.

All these received prizes. There were other "special" prizes for adults, a.nd dozens of prizes for the children. Contests included a peanut hunt, clothes- hanging contest, poster-advertising contest, bean-guessing competition, ball throwing, paper plate "sailing," for big and little girls. Besides prizes, each daughter received four favors. And to carry all the "loot" home, ea.ch was given a doggie-bone bag from the club kitchen.

Dinner ta.bles were centered with planters. Japanese fans at each plate, which were favors, gave bright color to the tables. Mrs. Sprcngcr headed the committee for the event, and was assisted by Mrs. P.

I ut street Former Area Pastor Gives 91st Birthday Sermon Rev. W. J. Small, a member of the Cribbs Home for the Aged at Meadville, and formerly of the Clarks Mills area, preached his annual birthday sermon in the Home chapel on the occasion of his 91st birthday, Sunday, Aug. 21.

His listeners, who stated that his ability and energy were un- impared, including his fellow members at the Home, together with a large number of his relatives. Fifteen of the relatives, including Mrs. Means and her daughter- friends of long standing, dined with Rev. Mr. Small at noon, and spent the afternoon with him.

Represented at the chapel services were nieces ana nephews from New Wilmington, Mercer, Clark's Mills, Mercer, Sharon, Greenville, Hubbard, Struthers, Cleveland, and Chicago. On Monday morning, his son, Philip, and the wife, took Rev. Mr. Small with them for an extended visit in their home in DesPlaines, 111. Rev.

Mr. Small was one of the founding members of the first Cribbs Home board of directors, when the Home was instituted at Conneautville. He and his wife joined the Home in 1946, after his retirement from the ministry. He had spent 40 or more years in charges in Erie Conference. Mrs.
