Combat air- crewmen are the men in the rear turrets and cockpits of the Navy's aircraft, There is an urgent need for more qualified young men to train for this most important work. The aircrewrriari is more than just a gunner. He has two separate and distinct jobs. He the guns during those short minutes of battle and is also a skilled technician.

He may be the radioman of the plane, the ordnanceman or the mechanic, but whatever his specialty he is the man who keeps the plane flying and fighting. Seventeen year olds who enlist Jn this program are rated seaman second class and sent to a Naval Air Station for training. Aircrew.men now win their silver wings as soon as they graduate from this training and are ready for combat. The new plan puts them in a class with pilots who win thein wings before they go into action against the enemy. This opportunity many have been waiting for.
