2B High Point Enterprise, Sunday, March 1I7S Methodist Ceremony Unites Thompson-Roberts Pair THOMASVILLE Karen Diane Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Taylor Knight of Eden, became the bride of Robert William Thompson son of the senior Mr. and Mrs. Thompson of 204 Salem in a 5 p.m.

ceremony Saturday at Spray United Methodist Church of Eden. Rev. Joe Law was officiating minister, and a prelude of wedding music was provided by the organist, Mac Hodges of Eden. Given in marriage by her stepfather, Mr. Knight, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory polysatin and alencon lace, 'fashioned with a scooped neckline outlined with lace and embroidered with pearls, a raised fitted bodice trimmed lace and long tapered sleeves with lace-trimmed flares at the wrists.

Her 'modified A-line skirt featured a full-cut chapel train and a design of lace with a matching border. She added a chapel- length veil of-silk illusion edged with lace and held by a cap of lace trimmed with seed pearls. The bride carried a bouquet of stephanotis, white roses, snowdrift, cymbidium orchids on a background of tulle, tied with satin Matron of honor was Mrs. Dan Robertson of Greensboro. The bridegroom's father was his best man. Ushers were Michael Bryant, Edward Reid, Jack Callahan, Fagg Nowlan Jr. of Greensboro, Pat and Bill Jobe, both of Forest City.

The bride graduated from Appalachian State University in 1973 with a B.S. degree in elementary education and received her master's degree from the university in 1974 in the field of special education. She is employed with the Thomasville City Schools as a learning disabilities teacher. The bride is a member of the Thomasville Junior Woman's Club. The bridegroom graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, in 1968 and from Gardner Webb College in 1972 with a B.A.

degree. He is employed with the Northwestern Bank of Salisbury. Greg Shoemaker of Bethel Park, and R. W. Hunter IV of Eden served as acolytes for the ceremony.

Wedding guests were invited to the fellowship hall of the church following MRS. ROBERT W. THOMPSON JR. the ceremony for a reception honoring the newlyweds. Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph R. Tulloch of Eden greeted guests and Julie Tulloch invited them to sign the register. The refreshment table was covered with a white cloth overlaid with tulle and centered with an arrangement of spring flowers in pastel shades accented with a. five-branched silver candelabrum holding lighted tapers.

The bride's table featured a tiered wedding cake topped with a nosegay of spring flowers. The base of the cake was encircled with spring flowers. Throughout the entertaining area white baskets and candelabrum were featured. Mrs. Joe Wilson and Miss Jan Hill of Eden poured punch.

Mrs. R. W. Hunter cut the cake. Jennifer Tulloch and Lori Webb give rose petals from silver bride's baskets to guests as the couple departed.

Tennis Classes Forming The first session of spring tennis classes begin in April at the YWCA on Gatewood Avenue. Beginner classes included basic tennis skills of scoring, court position, forehand, backhand, and serving. The following classes still have openings: -Tuesday: 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. (April 1 April 29) Wednesday, Friday: 10 until 11 a.m. (April 7 April 28) Wednesday, Friday: 4 until 5 p.m.

(April 7 April 28) The intermediate tennis classes will include instructions on more advanced skills such as the volley, lob, smash and game strategy. The following intermediate classes still have openings: Thursday and Saturday: 4 until 5 p.m. (April 1 April 22) 9:30 tintil 11:30 a.m. (April 3 May 1) 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. (April 5 May 3) Students are urged to register early to insure a place in the class.

Students must have YWCA memberships and must furnish their tennis rackets and three tennis balls. Midweek Club Plans Meeting Midweek Extension Homemakers Club will meet on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. C. H. Sechler, 1110 Meadowlawn.

The meeting will take place at 10 o'clock in the morning. Ardith Wells Is Bride Of Jonathan David Pugh In a 5 o'clock ceremony Saturday afternoon at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Ardith Loucine Wells was united in marriage with Jonathan David Pugh of George Williams College, Downers Grove, 111. The couple repeated their vows before Dr. Delbert Byrum. A prelude of wedding music was provided by Susan Rowe Neal, soloist, and Mrs.

Charles W. McAnally, organist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert Wells of 3601 Greenhill Dr.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thomas Pugh of Ansonville. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white maracaine crepe fashioned with an empire bodice accented with an inset of embroidered petals and pearl flowerlets forming a high neckline and yoke effect. Matching bands of embroidery and seed pearls accented the wrists of the long fitted sleeves and outlined the empire waist.

Her softly-flared skirt extended 1o chapel length, and she added a full-length veil held by a matching Camelot headpiece accented with seed pearls. The bride carried a semi." cascade bouquet of car; nations, gypsophila, and snowdrift centered with a glamelia. Maid of honor was the bride's sister, Sylvia Wells. Bridesmaids were Steva Hardy, Regina Smith, Jean Arlington of Chapel Hill, Mrs. Don Hensley of Sylva, and Mrs.

Fred Pugh Jr. of Pittsboro. There were two honorary attendants. The bridegroom selected his father to serve as best man. Ushers were the bride's brother, John Wells, Robert Garrett, Bert Adkins, Fred T.

Pugh Jr. of Pittsboro, brother of the bridegroom, David Grissom of Detroit, and Jerry Smothers of Rutherford ton. The bride attended Western Carolina University and graduated from High Point College. She did graduate work at UNC, Greensboro. The new Mrs.

Pugh is a third grade teacher at Johnson Street School. Mr. Pugh graduated from Gardner-Webb College and is a student in the graduate at George Williams College in Downers Grove, 111. He will receive an M.S$ degree in camping outdoor education and recreation, and he is employed by YMCA Camp Cheerio. The newlyweds will reside in Greensboro.
