(Extension Photo) Meyer Coach Of Year t Ex-Resident Of Seneca Rites March 30 SENECA - Funeral services were held at the \Vinnebago Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Thursday afternoon, for Mrs. Gladys Thompson Charlston, 60 of Lake Mills, who passed away on Monday, as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered earlier in the day. Survivors include two sons, Martin of Manley, Iowa, and Williard of Lake Mills; also daughters, Louise, MrsBobEngstrom, Algona; Darlene, Mrs. Donald Heerdt, Laramie, Wyo; Genora, Mrs. Lloyd Thomas, Lake Mills, Iowa; also Marilyn and Delores at home. Other survivors included two brothers, Kenneth and Joy Thompson of Seneca; also four sisters Mrs. Myrtle Frost of Whittemore; Mrs. Adelia Ellingson, Thompson; Mrs. Abel (Alice) Hauge, Forest City; and Lila, Mrs. Myron Gilbert of Milford. Gladys Charlston, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Thompson, was born and raised in the Seneca community. Following her marriage to George Charlston, the couple lived and fanned in the Seneca community for a good number of years. They moved to Leland area where they farmed until they retired and moved to Lake Mills. Mr. Charlston preceded her in death. Relatives and friends from this area attending the funeral service included Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thompson and Joy Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilberg; Mr. Clarence Osborn; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Klien; Mr. Aaron Smith; Also Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Larsen and Mrs. Harry Bonnicksen, Armstrong; Mr. and Mrs. Manno Piedersen, Ringsted; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Osborn, Cylinder; Mrs. Wm. Brown, Fairmont; Charles Volk, Algona; and Mrs. Minda Lange, Guthrie Center. - o Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Johnson of Fenton were Sunday dinner guests of the Calvin Vaudts. Mr. and Mrs. David Looft and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Looffs brother and family, the Marvin Hoppes, St. James, Minn. The dinner was held in honor of the baptism of the baby daughter of the Hoppes. Mr. and Mrs. Looft served as sponsers at the baptismal service. Coach Meyer, perhaps the best known baseball coach in high school circles in the state, has had 10 Diocesan championship teams during his lengthy tenure at St. John's. Best-known of Meyer's proteges at Bancroft are Denny Menke, shortstop for the Atlanta Braves and Joe Hatten, who spent a lengthy major league pitching career with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Cubs.
