Army Photo) Conservation Board Buys Marsh Area A 28 acre marsh area near Union Slough was purchased by the Kossuth County Conservation Board recently for $6,500 and will be developed as a game preserve. The marsh is situated three miles northwest of Titonka and three miles east of Union Slough. Cost of the land was $232 per acre. Additional land will be purchased so that a 50-acre tract, to be known as Buffalo Creek Marsh, can be developed. Included will be an earthen dam with a stop log control structure to create a seven-acre body of water for migratory waterfowl, some upland game and winter cover planting. Estimated cost of the work is $1,700. Work on the project is expected to begin in about two months. Funds for the Conservation Board are raised through a small mlllage levy each year. Largest project undertaken so far Is the large lake north of Algona. 2 County Banks Offer A New Health Plan A new health plan has been made available to bank customers of Kossuth County. Called "Bank-Care," the plan was described in detail in letters and brochures which the banks mailed to their customers. Participating banks are Farmers State of Whittemore and Exchange State Bank at Wesley. Bank officials point out that hospital-medical costs are rising so fast that most hospital insurance programs are already inadequate. Bank-Care is designed to fill this gap and help pay the other incidentals connected with hospitalization. Bank-Care payments are made in addition to any other insurance and are paid directly to the policy holder. If you are not doing business' at a participating bank, you may qualify by opening an account at once or by paying premiums at one of the banks. See ad located elsewhere in this paper.
