BILL Reed, former Algonans, now of Stillwater, Minn., became parents of a son last month, friends here have learned. It is their first child. Mrs. Reed is the former Sharon Schneider, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schneider, now of Cross Lake, Minn. CAPT. AND MRS. Harold Amfahr and daughter, Melanie, have been visiting the past several days with his father, Matt Amfahr. Capt. Amfahr left Saturday morning for Travis AFB enroute to Thailand for a tour of duty in the Air Force Communications Service. Mrs. Amfahr and Melanie will make their home with friends at Oxford, la. during his absence. MRS. BERNARD J.Thilgesand Mrs. Kenneth Thilges spent Thursday at Mason City with friends. DR. AND MRS. Joseph Rooney and Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Reding left this weekend for a two week vacation at New Orleans, La. where the doctor will attend a medical meeting. From there they will go to Biloxi, Miss, and St. Petersburg, Fla. During the absence of Dr. and Mrs. Rooney, the children are being cared for by Mrs. Walter Adams. MR. AND MRS. Walter McBride, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Persell, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Potts of Swea City and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roach, Humboldt, were at Bethany, Mo. recently where the men did some wolf hunting. They were gone over a weekend. MR. AND MRS. Don Prieskorn had as dinner guests last Sunday the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Koll, and sister, Mrs. Genevieve Young, Ft. Dodge. MR. AND MRS. Bernard Thilges observed their 10th wedding anniversary Thursday. MRS. DON KINGFIELD entertained her bridge club Tuesday evening. MR. AND MRS. Robert Sigsbee will be taking the latter's mother, Mrs. Adolph Bruellman, West Bend, to Mason City in a short time for a check-up on surgery she had done at Park hospital. She injured a finger a couple,of months ago, there was bone injury in addition to ligament, but she is getting along as well as can be expected. MRS. MILTON DAHL went to Swea City Thursday and visited her sister-in-law, Pearl Dahl, and other relatives in the vicinity. Relatives were also there from Nebraska and Mrs. Dahl entertained the entire group at dinner Friday evening. MRS. JOHN DUTTON is expected home this weekend from California where she had been one of the contestants in the recent Pillsbury "bake-off." From there she went to Tacoma, Wash, to visit her son George and family. MR. AND MRS. Jerry Seiler came from Storm Lake and spent the weekend with the latter's brother, Bret Bartlett. They also visited her grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Foster. MR. AND MRS. Wesley Bartlett returned Monday from Tacoma, Wash., where they had attended a Kiwanis meeting. They flew both ways. CLARENCE FRASER returned Friday from a visit at Olathe, Kans. with his son James and family. He returned via Des Moines where he visited his son Dick and family. THE DON SJOGRENS moved Friday into the apartment over the store on Jones street. DR. AND MRS. L. L. Snyder ; are being visited by thei? son, John, student at'Grinnell. MR. AND MRS. Adrian Sterling were visited over the weekend by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Miller, and granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reavis, Dubuque. Mr. and Mrs. Reavis were house guests of Mrs. Mamie Frankl, grandmother of Mrs. Reavis, and also spent some time with her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling. 4-Corner Club The Four Corner Mothers and Daughters Club will meet at the home of Marilyn Bjustrom March 9. Minnie Walker will be assisting hostess. Roll call will be what I would like to do on Sunday. The program will be given by Deanne Gerber and Herlinda Kirsch. JOE - C.D.A. will meet March 8. A special feature of the evening will be a dim and slides shown by Stanley Klein on Vietnam. Stanley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Klein, served 3 years in service with one year in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade. The court's World Mission Crusade project activities for the March meeting Include bandages, hospital gowns, boys and girls new or used clothes, any size, girls communion dresses and veils. Mrs. Edward Thilges and Agnes Berte are Worlds Mission chairmen. Committee in charge of meeting arrangements are Mrs. Alvin Klein, Mrs. Joe Loebach, Mrs. Ted Wagner, Mrs. Connie Kunkel, Mrs. Daryl Baker and Mrs. Jim Berte. - o - Mr. and Mrs. Tony Becker from here, Mrs. Justine Becker, Wesley, and Mr. and Mrs. James Becker, Bancroft, left Thursday for a visit with Rev. Luke Becker in Boonevllle, Mo. Father Becker is a brother of Tony and James Becker. Allan Koolhaas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kohlhaas, chipped a bone in a foot Monday while playing at school and will be wearing a walking cast for 3 weeks. Allan is a 7th grade student.
