Purpose of the purchase is to widen the present alley. Blanchard filed an opinion of the real estate value of the property which was prepared by Lucianj Holman. The matter will be discussed at a later meeting. Named to Review Board Aldermen Floyd Vickers and Lester Venske were appointed by Mayor Norman Yeske to the board of review.

The appointments were confirmed by the council. The request of Duelle Hart for street and sidewalk grades on Quigley street was referred to City Engineer Alex Ely and the street committee. Getlieman has established Wisconsin Marine Co.

in a building occupied by the Weber Garage. He has taken up Weber's lease until Oct. 31, and then he will buy land on E. Lake street and erect a GO by 80-foot building. Wisconsin Marine will manufacture three kinds of piers, boat landing equipment and a machine that blows flaked ice into trucks Gettleman, an inventor, is also working on a power lawn mower- snow blower combination.

He plans to employ about five persons and credits the late Joe Bratson with his locating hero. Gettleman's wife and two children will move here next week. Cost will be $7.50 per foot. Carnival Rights Granted Amid Storm of Protests Bids Called on City's Old Fire Station Whether Janesville's present fire station site on N. River street will be'sold will be determined by bids to be opened in the city hall July 23, it was announced today by City Manager Joseph Lustig. Advertising for bids will start this week and although there have been several plans offered for continued city use of the property, it is expected that the sale will be made if private enterprise finds the land valuable enough. At past meetings of the city council, it has been revealed that First National Bank officers have expressed interest in the property for expansion purposes.

Others also have made inquires about city plans for use of the property. There have been suggestions that the building be used to shelter city buses, now kept out of doors be- casue of a lack of garage space. It has also been proposed to raze the building and use the land for a parking lot. The property has 45.44 feet of frontage on N. River street and is approximately 82 feet in depth.

Possession will be offered about Oct. 1, although it is expected the fire department will be moved to two new stations in August. New stations are now nearing com protests by the recreation and the park board, the city council last night granted permission to the Delavan Lions Club to hold a carnival at Veterans Memorial Park July 9-14. President Ray Stevens of the Lions pleaded that, the club would lose $5,000 if space for the earn! val could not be found. Park board opposition was based on experiences last year when carnival personnel allegedly abused park facilities.

The Recreation Board speaking through two of its members, Eula Grames and Peter Dantone, who are also council members, said that it may be forced to close the Mill Pond Beach for the week of the carnival. Stevens, upon being questioned, admitted that contracts were signed with carnival representatives last fall and assured the council that in the future, arrangements for the site of "Lion's Club big money making projects" will be taken care of earlier. The Lions Club agreed to the following restrictions: To fence that portion of the area to be used as a midway; to pay the salary of additional uniformed policemen to patrol the area from "early -morning until 11 or 12 at night;" to permit trailers housing carnival personnel to park only at the extreme north end of the park and to provide a fenced roadway to the beach so that parents and their children need not pass through the carnival midway. The council's public hearing for special assessment on sewer installations of South Second street met with no opposition. Bids were opened on 1900 feet of sewer and a like amount of water main on the street and the contract was awarded to Wipperfoith and Enflors, Waunakee, low bidder at $8,390.50.

The Board of Review will meet Monday from 10-12 a and 1-4 p.m. in the council chambers in the theater building. Earl Nelson, council chairman of the Municipal Golf Committee, reported that Delbrook showed an increase of $506 for the month of Juno over last year and a total revenue increase of $1,989.50 for 1957 over 1956. The council authorized an expenditure of $75 for 18 aluminum flag poles at the course. The cost to date for mosquito control has been $395 for labor and equipment and $156 for two bar rels of spray.

Alderman Dantone reported on Mill Pond Beach and he said that plans are being made for enlarging the swimming area next year and made three requests in the'in tercst of safety. He asked that gates be marked "in" and "out," that a 10-imile per hour speed limit be set up Inside park grounds and that a area be set up from the to 50-60 feet inside the gatf. The entrances will be oiled and sealed to keep the dust down. The Eagles Club was granted beer license.
