David Hutchins, 65, of Tempe, AZ, passed away peacefully at home December 24, 2003. He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, and lived here in Arizona for the past 38 years. He worked as an electrical and applications engineer, most recently for Proteck Devices. Over these past 30 plus years he served his Lord, Jesus Christ, faithfully in many differing capacities at Grace Community Church. He also had a passion for racquetball that drew him to the courts for both breakfast and lunch.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, with whom he had been married for 44 years; his three sons, Ty (Dawn), Scott (Heidi) and Robin Steve (Lori); his his daughter, (Tom) Foote; Joan (Clell) Lewis and Sandra (Paul) Fornell and his eleven grandchildren, Chapman, Colton, Cassidy, James, John, Gregory, Trevor, Amanda, Andrew, Kelly and David. A memorial service will be Friday, January 2, 2004 at 1:00 at Grace Community Church, 1200 E. Southern with a reception immediately following at the church. Ladensack, born April 1924, died December 19, 2003 after 58 years of marriage to his wife Regina. As high school sweethearts, they shared 62 years of and friendship. A devoted father and City. of Phoenix Firefighter, Joe dedicated himself with unique care and frequent muses enjoyed by all he encountered. His constant concern for the citizens of Phoenix, whom he served loyally, was evident in his dialogue after retirement in 1977.

Joe's early talents in baseball lead him to the threshold of the Major League until his own father's health recalled him from Canada. Joe and Regina moved to Phoenix in 1952 for the health of their children. His support and love for his children was evident in his belief for higher education and a desire for happiness. Joseph is survived by his wife Regina; his nine children Joseph, Robert, Veronica, Carl, Alvin, Gerry, Chris, Mary Grandchildren Katherine, Robert, Anna Marie, Tom, Cheryl, Matt, Melissa, Brian, Alex and Ellie; and extended family Anita, Jim, Jean Anne, Rustie, Tim, Jane, Drea and Charlie. Joe should be remembered as a man who gave without regard for himself, with a genuineness that will not be forgotten.

Otilia Magallanez, age 80, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2003 in Mesa, AZ. Otilia, was born 29, 1923 in Litchfield, AZ. She was married to a Magallanez for 46 years who passed away in 1986. She is survived by several brothers and sisters, two sons: Ignacio and Frank Magallanez and two daughters: Guadalupe Mendez and Sylvia Hernandez. Otilia has 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild.

Otilia touched many lives with her love, generosity, cooking, and especially her quick wit. She will be missed. Services will be held on Monday, December 29th from 6pm to 8pm at Queen of Peace Catholic Church (141 N. MacDonald, Mesa). Bruce Metteer, by, Debra Knight daughters of Elko, NV and Donna Metteer of Seattle, WA, and by grandchildren Samuel Metteer Knight and Hannah Rose Knight. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and came to Arizona in 1946. She attended the University of Arizona Graduate College where she met her husband. She taught school in the Tucson school system till her husband graduated. They moved to Phoenix in 1954 where they raised their family.

She received her master's degree in learning disabilities at Arizona State University. She taught children with learning disabilities at Kachina and Hopi Schools in the Scottsdale School District. She was the author several books on learning disability reading curriculum. She discovered the keys that enabled many learning disabled children to read and write. Family services will be held at Christ Church of the As- cension with burial at National Memorial Cemetery.

She requests that any donations, made in her name, be to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. Came to Arizona, November, 1976 from San Francisco, CA. 1908 in Dignity Thorvald Robert Moe, 83 years of age, passed into the hands of the Lord, on Jesus Christ's birthday December 25, 2003. He is survived by his four children; Robert, of Sacramento, CA; Greg and his two daughters, Pam and Danielle, of Reno, NV; Kristin and her two daughters, London and Elizabeth, of Concord, CA; Zachery, of Payson, AZ, and ex-wife Nada Moe. Also his closest companion, whom he spent 24 hours a day cat Camey. He served in World War Il in the Pacific Theater Fort Ord, reaching the rank of 1st Sergeant. He moved from Patterson, Calif.

to Phoenix in 1949. He worked in the Maricopa County Purchasing, Dept. for 30 years Over 17 years ago he fought a tremendous battle with Melanoma Cancer requiring the loss of an eye. He then lived the independent life he wanted, residing in his own home close to the Doctors Nurses he loved SO much, treated with the most tender of care. He was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship, and a Green Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Other survivors include his siblings Brooke and Zachary Duebler, Rachael, Michael James, Emily and Grace Mullins, and Meagan Swank; his grandparents Frank and Norma Mullins, Jerry Brooks, and John Driscoll; aunts Kelly Calzaretta, Laurie Brooks, and Kathy Hawkins; and his greatgrandmother Bernice Morris of Needles, CA. Servies will be held in Illinois. Arrangements by Apache Junction Dr. James Jerome Riordan Dr. James Jerome Riordan, 94, of Phoenix, died December 24, 2003. Doctor Riordan was a long time Radiologist and former Chief Staff at St.

Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. He was born in Jerome, Arizona in 1909, attended the University of Santa Clara and received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Doctor Riordan began his practice of medicine in 1933 in Flagstaff and after his marriage to Helen Marguerite Dolan, he continued his practice of medicine in San Francisco until he was called to serve with the U. S.

Army Air Corps in World War II. Following the war he returned to St. Louis University and St. Louis City Hospital for further studies in the field of radiology. In 1949 Dr.

Riordan and family moved to Phoenix where he had joined the staff of Grunow Medical Clinic. In 1950 he was appointed to be full time chairman of the Department of Radiology at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center where he served for thirty-four years until his retirement in 1984. He was a fifty year member of the Arizona State Medical Association, a Fellow in the American College of Radiology and a member of the Phoenix and Paradise Valley Country Clubs. Doctor Riordan was active i in Catholic charities being a recipient of the Diocesan Gold Medal of Honor in 1962 and subsequent investiture in the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem in 1968, a World group of Catholic lay persons to promote and maintain the presence of the church in the Holy Land including support for orphanages, schools, seminaries and charitable needs.

He was a recipient of the Pilgrim Shell, an honor of the Order, following a journey and visit to Jerusalem and the Holy Land. Doctor Riordan's wife Helen preceded him in death in 1972. Later he married Mary Dolan Isham, his widowed sister-in-law, and they happily joined together twenty-five grandchildren, family and friends. His wife Mary died August 15, 1996 after a lengthy illness. Doctor Riordan is survived by his sons, Joe (Rosemary) and Michael (Sheila), daughters, Ann Westphal (Dick) and Helen Marie Wheeler, 25 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. on Monday, December 29, 2003, at Whitney Murphy Arcadia Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be said 10:00 A.M.

Bertha Elizabeth Lowrie- a Ralston, 91, of Peoria, Arizona, peaceably passed away December 22, 2003 after a long struggle with the dreaded Alzheimer's disease. Bertha came to Phoenix from Dayton, Ohio, in 1946 with her two children, Connie Jean (CJ) Smith of Peoria and Edwin N. Cosley, Jr.

of Gilbert and husband Clark A. Lowrie, who preceded her in death in 1960. She later married William A. Ralston of Cottonwood and they lived in the Phoenix and Peoria area until his death in December 1978. Bertha taught her children the value of respect, honesty, and Christian love by the example she set in her everyday life.

She was a member of the Peoria Church of the Nazarene and faithfully attended the senior adult Sunday school classes where she had many friends. Bertha is also survived by grandchildren Kathy French of Sedona, Laurie Robbins of Phoenix, Robin Langley of Newton Falls, Ohio, Jenniffer Cosley of Phoenix, Angela McMillen of Solana Beach, California, David Cosley of San Diego, California and twelve great-grandchildren. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the Care personnel Summer Star Home of Peoria and Odyssey Hospice for the loving care given to Bertha. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Crystal Rose. Thomas H. Richardson, 75, of Phoenix AZ, died on December 18, 2003. He was born March 13, 1928 in Martin South Dakota to James Flora Richardson. He was raised on a ranch and left to work construction across the west, including a stint on the Alaskan Pipeline.

He retired from Operating Engineers Local 428. He is survived by his wife Lee; brother James; and lots of relatives. Granddaughter Katie; and great-grandsons Eli Nate. Memorial contributions may be made to hospice of the valley. Tom will be missed by many.

Martin Joseph Rodek 51, of Waveland Mississippi, born April 25, 1952, died Nov. 20, 2003. Martin was a native of Hungary and a resident of Waveland. He was a radiographer for NASA at Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Survivors include his daughter, Rachel Rodek of Weston, parents Martin and Suzanna Rodek of Phoenix, brother George Rodek of Mesa, and sister Dorothi Cassini' of Cincinnati, Oh. The funeral service will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church on Tuesday Dec. 30, 2003 at 10:00 A.M.; Paz Marie Rodriguez, 85, of Phoenix, passed away December 27, 2003. She was born in Sinaloa, Mexico on February 27, 1918. She is survived by her husband, John F.

Rodriguez; daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Frazier, Vivian Bauer, Myra Mejia, and Irene Heinz; son, Thomas A. Rodriguez; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
