Ford said she still was clinging to her hopes for a victory "I feel I have a lot of support there," she said early today. "It's really going to be decided by the absentee ballots. He hasn't won yet Ford, 36, estimated that about 7,000 of the county's 14,000 absentee ballots would be cast in the port election.

Kool had 27,722 votes, or 39 percent The four year post pays $40,689 a year Baccus, in a telephone interview late Tuesday, said she believed her lead would hold "Probably when we hit the results from South Brevard, my lead will even improve," Baccus said The first precincts reporting were from the North Brevard area, she said "I think my lead is the result of the very good job we do in the elections process in Brevard," Baccus said. "Most people realize that. Today was a good example of the efficient operation of this office." Kool said she was disappointed with the preliminary results, but she had learned "there were a lot of people out there who believed in me." "I felt I ran a clean, hard race," Kool said. "And with the votes I did pull, it shows people want some changes in that office." Kool, 37, of 114 Briarwood Lane, heads Barbara Kool Insurance.

The Cocoa Democrat, a 13 year Brevard resident, is a political new comer. She holds Florida insurance and real estate licenses. Baccus, 55, of 300 Atlantic St is a 29 year Brevard County resident. The Melbourne Beach Republican Is incoming president of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Ejections, and served as its legislative chairwoman for the past four years..
