Cherokee News Items Aug. and Mrs. R. T. Altizer and Mr Mrs.

John Altizer and Shane took Nancy Altizer to Brownwood Thursday where she left for the Philippine Islands to teach school. Mrs. Helen Gresham of Abilene visited friends in Cherokee Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs.

Alex ttardin of Llano visited the James Kuyken- dalls Tueday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. James Kuykendall took their granddaughter, Lisa Kuykendall, to her home in Llano Friday afternoon. Those attending the encampment at Lake Brownwood were Kirk and Kay Perry, Terry and Ricky Morris, Pattie and Chris Boultinghouse, Pedro and Joe Soto, Keith Hightower, David Maddox and Rita Boultinghouse.

Kristy Cook and Mrs. Barbara Maddox were counselors. The group spent Monday through Friday at the camp. iMrs. Vann Maddox took David Maddox to his home in Llano Friday afternoon.

Peggy Walker of San Saba spent Wednesday night with Mrs. Vera Pearcy and Mrs. Ethel Roberts. Mrs. Tom Ware and Ann of Waco and Maxine Broyles of Dallas visited relatives and friends in Cherokee Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack McDowell and friends of Abilehe visited Mrs. Al Knight Sunday afternoon. Mr.

and Mrs. Vann Maddox accompanied the Alex Hardins of Llano to Round Mountain Friday. Misses Ellen and Julia Joiner of San visited Mrs. Vera Pearcy and Mrs. Ethel Roberts Sunday afternoon.

Robbie Faris spent the weekend in Mason with Brent Lehmberg. Thurman Burke of Llano was a luncheon guest Monday of Mrs. iMarvin Burke and Miss Alice Holt to be with Rev. and Mrs. Edward Burke, Robert and Denise, who left Monday afternoon by way of Ft.

Worth where they visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. John Burke and sister, Mrs. Ruth Millican and family. They also visited friends in Waxahachie en- route to their home in Winona, Miss.

Mrs. LeRoy Walker of San Saba visited all the Burkes last Sunday afternoon and Mrs. Mina Burke of San visited them Friday. Mrs. Delia Boney left for Bronte after visiting two weeks in Cherokee.

Mrs. Eddie Mayers of Taylor spent last Monday night with the Howard Perrys. Thelma Spinks of Austin is spending this week with the Chas. Perry family. Mr.

and Mrs. Perry Barrett and Russell of San Antonio visited Mrs. Verda Barrett last week. Johnny Ellison has returned home from the hospital. Mrs.

Ellison went to Temple for tests last Saturday and will be going for further tests this week. Mr. and Mrs. Roddy Maddox were business visitors in Austin Saturday. Mr.

and Mrs. Gary Estep and Amy of College Station visited during the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Estep and they all visited in Goldthwaite one day with Mr. and Mrs.

Clyde Estep Sr. Mrs. Charlotte Boultinghouse and daughters are moving to Brownwood this week where she will attend Beauty School. We extend sympathy to Mrs. W.

H. Taylor Jr. and family in the death of her father, William McNeil of San Saba. Her mother was buried last Wednesday and was buried Saturday. from injuries in the car accident Saturday, Aug.

10. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are improvig in Sheppard Hospital at Burnet. Mrs.

Ross Perry moved into her new home and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Randolph moved into her former home last week. Mr. and Mrs.

Travis Atkins and sons have moved to Cherokee and he has bought the George Boult- inghouse filling station. We wel-j come this family to our commun-" ity. Mrs. Atkins is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Bill Bailey. Mrs. Ira Bailey and her mother are living with their brother and son, Elmo Spiers. D. G.

Mayes of Ohio visited with L. H. Mayes and Mrs. Nora Gray and other relatives last week. Mr.

and Mrs. Gordon Galley and children and Sherman Burgess of Austin brought Mrs. Gladys Galley home. Mr. and Mrs.

Travis Daugherty and children of Lampasas visited Mrs. Cleo DaUgherty and Mack Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Hazel Parson spent the weekend in San Antonio where she met her son, J. Y.

Parson. Mr. and Mrs. David Smith spent the weekend in Austin with Mr. and Mrs.

Woodie Elder and children and visited at Thrall with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Light. Mr. and Mrs.

James Lee Smith of Sidney visited Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and Ann and Mr. and Mrs. David Smith Tuesday night.

Jim Smith was a patient in Llano Hospital a few days recently. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Moses and family of Houston, Mr. and Mrs.

Jack Oliver of Robstown and Mrs, Ernest Oliver of San Saba were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lee Oliver and daughters. Mrs. Clyde Johanson and Mrs.

Mike Walters met Dudley Battles at Bastrop Sunday and visited Mrs. Zula Hallmark in Austin. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. W.

H. Taylor in Sheppard Hospital at Burnet and report them much improved. Laurice Parisher and family of Odessa visited Mr. and Mrs. bert Parisher during the weekend, Mr.

and Mrs. J. C. Bristo spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs.

John Bailey and family. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kincaid of San Saba visited Mr. and Mrs.

Cecil Ray and Gary Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Kuykendall were in San Angelo several days last week where Johnson consulted an eye specialist. John Hawkins returned home with them for a visit.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bowden visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bowden and new daughter, Stephania Lee, at Raymondville several days recently.

Clyde Johanson spent Sunday night with Dr. and Mrs. Lamar Johanson at Hico. Mr. and Mrs.

Clyde Johanson and Byars Walters visited Mr. and Mrs. Hurston Hallmark and family in San Antonio Thursday and also went to HemisFair. Don Harris of Austin came Sunday for his grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Tom V.

Nelda returned to her home in Big Spring following the reunion. Several families from Locker attended the FFA Rodeo in Richland Springs last week. Mr. and Mrs. 0.

Cawyer. A. T. McGary of Mullin visited in the McGary home here Saturday night. Bill Ellis Judkins of San Saba has installed new screen doors for Mrs.

Cora Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barnett made a business trip to Brownwood Thursday. Relatives and friends of this community were sorry to learn of the recent death of Raymer Shaw, a former resident of Locker.

He and his family were living in New Mexico. He was an uncle of Mrs. Merle Taylor and Mrs. Mai- com Mask. Lane Bates of Brackettville has returned home after an 18-day visit in the Eugene Bates home.

Mrs. Opal Sofge of Brownwood visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs Eugene Bates Mrs. Alfred Harrell and dren of San Saba and Mrs. M.

Duncan and children were Brownwood Saturday and had a picnic at the park. Glenda can is home after a week's visit with relatives in San Angelo. Bel? grandmother, Mrs. Esther bach, brought her home. Mrs.

Margaret Milter and Ruth Harbuck of San Saba were- recent visitors with Mrs. Paul Roberds. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Parks and Miss Katy Merle Parks went on a sight-seeing tour of Burnet and Buchanan Dam 'Sunday.

Dean Barrett and family of Brownwood ited in the Earl Parks home Sunday afternoon. The Locker Homecoming will be Sunday, Aug. 25. Mrs. Annie Hopkins of Richland Springs attended funeral services Saturday, Aug.
