Page 38 Lebanon Daily News, Lebanon, Thursday, December 17, 1970 Pine Grove PINE GROVE, Dec. 17 David linger, a member of the International service committee, presented a program at the weekly dinner meeting of the Pine Grove Rotary Club Tuesday evening in the American Legion Post Home. Wilbert Herring, president, was in charge of the session. A movie of Mexico was shown entitled "A Portrait of Maurizio Gonsales, the exchange student now attending the Pine Grove Area High School, will give program on his native country, Mexico, after the holidays. Miss Gale daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Ivan Coleman, was a guest. She is the "Student of the Month" in Pine Grove Area High School. A list of her activities and accomplishments was noted by Walter J. Spory, high school principal.

She was given a merit certificate and a letter opener. Announcement was made that Wanda Bretz has been accepted as an exchange student from District 737 Rotary International. During the directors meeting, held after the dinner, Frank R. Winsheimer and David Unger were appointed a committee to purchased a gift for the exchange student. Birthday greetings were extended to Mark Haldeman.

Physical Fitness Awards Miss Margaret Zimmerman, instructor of health for girls in the Pine Grove Area High School, has completed the physical fitness program for girls in accordance with the American Physical Education Association. Girls who scored a 50 percentile included: Grade 9 Anne Hhnmelberger, Eliza Cheryl Morgan, Patricia Swartzlander, Sherry Gayle Athey, Judy Derr, Debra Donton, Carol Miller, Audrey Reed, Susan Schoffstall, Lola Wolfe, Debra Boltz, a Donofrio, Cindy Hatfield, Vivian Huber, Ann Kramer, Eileen Krause, Pamela Mutschler, Fay Ann Daubert, Beth Ann Hoy and Janet Loy. The gold award winners In grade 9, or those girls scoring 80 percentile, were: Rose Hoy, Theresa Pijar and Sharon Morgan. Presidential award winners or those scoring 85 percentile in grade 9 were: Cheryl D'Agostino, Trudy a Rebecca Gensemer, Ann Mitsky, Helen Chattin, a Brown and Patricia Moyer. Christmas Program The Christmas program of the Sunday School of St.

Matthew's Lutheran Church in Ravine will be given this Sunday morning at ten. The Rev. Sterling Bashore is the pastor. The senior choirs of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and St. John's Lutheran Church will unite to present the cantata, "The Music of Christmas," on Sunday.

The program will be given in St. John's Lutheran Church at 10:45 a.m. The cantata is under the direction of Lawrence Hoy, organist and choir director of both choirs. Fund Campaign Results Miss Sandra Clements, chairman of the drive for funds of the Pine Grove area for the Schuylkil'l County Society of Crippled Children, has reported a total of $1,232 collected in the house-to-house canvass and special gifts. Mrs.

Faye Lehman and Mrs. Barbara Schwartz were co-chairman. Mrs. Grayce Wilson and Mrs. Behney were in charge of setting up the collection areas.

White Gift Service The Lutheran Church Women of St. Peter's Lutheran Church will hold their White Gift Service this evening in the social rooms of the church. This service wiil be heid after the Christmas dinner for the members and their families starting at 6:30 o'clock. Mrs. Charles Hardenstine, president, will b3 in charge.

A short program on Christmas will also be presented under the direction of Mrs. Adolph Moller. The white gifts will be taken to the Lutheran Home at Topton later in the week. A Christmas Eve service by candlelight will be held in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, at 11 p.m.

Holy Communion will be observed. E. Hanover PTA Collects Money For Kidney Fund GRANTVILLE, Dec. 17 The Andy Palkovic Kidney Fund was increased when a good-will offering -was collected at the East Hanover Parent-Teacher Association Christmas play. The money was presented to Andys parents by Mrs.

Carrie Carnathan, PTA president. The play, "The Shock of His Life," was presented Monday night in the East Hanover Elementary School, Lebanon County. The cast were parents, teachers and elementary students. Members of the cast were: Charles Kiscadden, Mrs. Maryann Van Kirk, Ralph Ackerman, Misses Cheryl Krall, Colleen Kiscadden, and Eric Brown.

Mrs. Evelyn Kiscadden was prompter and Harrison Brown was stage director. The 150 persons attending sang Christmas Carols and Santa passed gifts to the children present. LeRoy Grubb was the Santa. Mrs.

Carnathan, in behalf of the local unit and executive committee thanked everyone for the generous donation. The next PTA meeting will be held Jan. 18, 1971. The topic will be "Education 1 A comparison of teaching methods of yesterday and today will be made according to Mrs Carnathan. Children's Yule Party Is Held By Rotarians MYERSTOWN, Dec.

17 The Myerstown Rotary Club held a children's Christmas party and dinner Thursday evening in Friedens Lutheran Church with 175 children and adults attending. The party held annually for the families of Rotary members and guests was opened with an invocation by the Rev. Albert Kratzer. After a dinner, prepared by the women of Friedens, the film, "The Littlest Angel" was presented George Karsnitz. Later Santa Glaus, (Irving Bollinger), appeared and presented all children with gifts.

Among the guests were Mrs. Mabel Brown and Mrs. Kathleen Wandell, wives of former Rotary members. John Morgan, Annville, and Harry Meyer, Lebanon, were visiting Rotarians. All women attending received perfume provided by Donald Shepherd.

Men received a potted poinsettia through the courtesy of Rotarian Donald Layser. Noel Hertzog, a teacher at Millbach Elementary School, and Mrs. Wilbur Hess also were guests. They provided transportation for children who were guests from the Milibach area. Group singing was led by Donald Shepherd.

A message was presented by the Rev. E. K. Stauffer. Lester Frantz, president, conducted the festivities and gave the welcome.

He lauded Harvey Nitrauer, chairman of the com-, mittee arranging the evening. The party was judged one of the largest children's Christmas parties ever held by the Rotary. The Dec. 23 meeting will be held in the American Legion Home. Pine Grove "Tournoi" is a trace of medieval jousting exhibiting horsemanship and lancing skills celebrated at the Cotton Festival each year in Ville Platte, La.

17 George Brommer, president, was in charge of the board meeting and the membership meeting of the Pine Grove Jaycees Monday evening in the Jaycee rooms in the American Legion Post Home. Eighteen members attended. During the board meeting, which preceded the regular meeting, the pine tree was adopted as the official symbol for the Pine Grove Jaycees. Plans were discussed on the observance of Jaycee Week in January. The highlight of the week will be a banquet in the Pine Terrace for Jaycees and their wives on Jan.

30. A report was made of the collection for "Toys for Tots" and the response was very generous in the area. A work session is scheduled Wednesday evening in the Jaycees rooms at 7:30 to ready the toys. The toys will be distributed the day before Christmas. Anyone who wishes toys for less fortunate children is asked to contact William Blain, committee chairman.

Toys not given to local area children will be taken to area orphanages. During the regular meeting, announcement was made that the party for the children of Jaycees will be held in the Pox Fellowship Hall of St. John's Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. A short film will be shown and games will be played. Santa Glaus will be on hand to distribute filled stockings, and refreshments will be served.

This Saturday morning, Jaycee members are asked to be on hand to check the Christmas lights on Pine Grove streets. Some of the bulbs are out and it has also been.reported that en tire strands are not lit at several places.
