I said to him, "You lied about bringing home all the money you make." Yes, he said, he had a secret bank account. I asked her whether this other man was just an affair or if she wanted to marry him.

Yes, she said, she wanted to marry him. The truth was painful for both of them, but slowly they began to realize that until they were truthful with each other, there would be no solution to their problems. I decided that because the wife had the five children, she should stay in the house. Also, I ordered that until some of the wounds healed and the assault charge was litigated, they should not have contact with each other except for telephone contact. 1 told them that they most likely would find a solution to their problems if they were completely honest with each other.

LESSON: Lying even in a small way destroys relationships. Quentin Tolby Is justice of the peace of Glendale Justice Court, 6830 N. 57th Drive, Glendale. told them that they most likely would find a solution to their problems if they were completely honest with each other. Quentin Tolby me and to yourselves.

It does no good to lie; lying probably destroyed this relationship. We will never solve our problems until both of you start telling the truth." I turned to him and said, "You lied to me about hitting her, didn't you?" He looked at me for a few seconds and replied that, yes, he had physically abused her many times: I looked at- her and said, "You lied to me about seeing other men, I had issued an order of protection giving exclusive use of a house to a man, but his wife had gotten an order of protection from the city court giving exclusive use of the house to her. The police were called, and with "conflicting orders, the police could do nothing. The husband came into my court to explain the problem. I told him to tell the city court judge that the pair needed a hearing in one court or the other.

The city court elected to transfer the case to me. The couple had been married 13 years and had five children. About three years ago, the marriage started to fall apart. The husband had been arrested for domestic violence, but he denied ever hitting his wife. He said she was having an affair, but she denied everbeing unfaithful.

Slje said he was no bringing home enough money to live on, and he swore that every dollar he made went to support the family. The claims and denials continued. Finally I held up my hands and said, "Stop." ,1 just sat and looked at them until they settled down. I said, "Both of you are lying to N. Scottsdale Rd.

Not until the 1999-2000 school year, with the advent of Millennium, will the campus have varsity sports. North freshmen who play varsity sports are busbd to South, along with those freshmen taking math higher than Algebra II or students involved in the band. Cloud said that practice will continue next school year, but he added that in 1999, "when students pick a school, that will become their home athletic school." For example, Dwight Wilson, a North freshman, is bused to South to wrestle on the varsity team. He leads the team in pins and owns the second-best record this year. If Dwight's career path sends him to North, he will be bused to South until he is a junior.

However, in his junior year, he will stop being an Agua Fria Owl and become a Millennium Tiger. Athletes caught in the middle, like Wilson if he attends North, will have to chose between their career path or their team. Both Asadi and Cloud hope students don't have to deal with that decision, but they concede that the question might arise and that when it does, it will be a family decision. "Parents and students will have to decide whether the pathway is more important or is the sport more important," Asadi said. Among Duane and Phillis Wilson's seven children, three are at Litchfield Elementary District schools and are in line to join the Agua Fria High School District.

The Wilsons hope their children all choose career pathways offered at Agua Fria's south campus. "It's sad to think they wouldn't all be at the same campus," Phillis Wilson said. "We're a close family, and they would be lonely if they couldn't see each other during the day." Agua Fria South will admit 253 of North's ninth-graders. Agua Fria North will accept 600 freshmen and 300 sophomores.

It's a system parents and students took 14 months to design. They named it Career Pathways. The aim is to jump-start traditionally indecisive students into their chosen career paths. Starting the last week of February, school counselors and parents will sit with their students and children to go over the electives they've chosen and register for the corresponding school. Electives are classes other thaji the required courses that students choose, depending on their interests.

Agua Fria South will offer arts and communications and business systems. Agua Fria North will offer engineeringindustrial systems, technology and natural resources, and healthhumansocial services. Bob Asadi, Agua Fria North's principal, said that when he was in high school, he didn't know what his career would be. He hopes the electives will at least show students what they do not want to do. "Nobody is asking them to pick their career right now," Asadi said.

"We're asking what kind of careers might you be interested in, and what classes would you need to take to make it in those careers." Agua Fria administrators recently met with parents to answer their concerns. Many parents were concerned about whether their children would make the limited 253 slots South has allocated for sophomores. Other parents worried whether their children would be able to continue participating in varsity sports, band and advanced academic programs if their choice of electives sent them to North. North will have junior varsity sports in football, volleyball, soc 3S i SMART COLORFUL LiU WINDSOCKS LJ I I JSlBJil AND FLAGS hrl 1 SHPM FOR SPRING y-J I i Selection may vary per store 1 I W74; CRAFT RIBBONS I p-, rTi I p.DnCM Asst. spring patterns colors.
