WALSKI. Pastor S-'-o a.m.—Mass "Be Not Dismayed" Scripture: fl Timothy For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord nor of me his prisoner; be thou partaker of the affliction of the gospel according" to the power of God. A young man by the.name of Timothy was walking down the streets in Ephesus when a friend ran up to him filled with anxiety as he said, "Timothy, have you heard? Apostle Paul, your father in the faith, is in prison in Rome. They are saying he is going to be put to death because of his preaching of Christ." Timothy, by nature, was a sweet-tempered and timid man.

He was steadfast in his faithfulness and willingly went on dangerous errands as Paul would instruct him. Though He was notconsidered a leader, He followed in obedience and co-operation everything Paul told him to do. But now Paul was be punished and suffer death because he refused to abandon his beliefs in the Gospel. What ever was this reserved, shy man, Timothy, to do without Paul? illed with dismay and discouragement, Timothy went to the place he was staying. Before long a messenger came with a letter from Paul.

Hurriedly, Timothy ripped the letter filled his eyes as he began to dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy and peace from God, the Father and Christ Jesus, our Lord." Paul knew Timothy's nature and he also realized the people in Ephesus were departing from the truth and needed Timothy to stand firm. He felt the need to warn Timothy not to go "with the crowd" who were departing from the Truth. He knew that because Timothy lacked self-confidence and was shy that he might find it easier to be silent than to be bold in speaking to the people about the danger of becoming cold and indifferent towards the Gospel. Paul's letter to Timothy is also a message to Christians to-' dayj How often the power and love of God is limited as Christian hdld back in fear of ridicule and sneers from the worldly. Those who walk with downcast eyes, carrying the name of Christian, yet ashamed say to the I believe in.Jesus in weakened i'aith for fear of persecution and sufferings.

Beliefs are being abandoned today as many find it easier to "go with the crowd" rather than "dare to be different" for the cause of Christ. Paul says, "look at I have suffered unjustly many times; my friends turned away from me at a time when I needed them I have been run out of places because I insisted in standing steadfast in the faith. Now you, who are Believers, must expect the same thing if you are to be true to your high calling as a Christian. But do not be dismayed for in my life, as it will also be. with you, God has always seen me through, be has never, left- me alone with my afflictions.

I know whom I have trusted and I am confident that he is able to keep that which I committed unto him until that day when I will be with him in eternal life. You also have this same assurance as you walk in faith as a servant of because of what you do but by the grace and mercy of our Lord." "Therefore, each of you, remain steadfast in what you believe, study the word of God, be not dismayed. Lean upon God for your Endure all that conies your way for by the Holy Spirit you will. receive power, wisdom and self-control." "You are a chosen people and have obtained salvation in Christ Jesus, together with eternal glory. And we knowlthis to be if we have died with him.

we shall also live with him; if we continue to endure, we shall also rule with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are not faithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot be false to himself." Peter was an impetuous, im- patientj quick to speak, hasty to temper, fearful in time of danger just as many of us are. Yet, when we study the inner life and inner response of Peter to His Lord, we find he' is so similar to us. Most of us have no doubt made singular studies of the life of Peter, but we dare say you will learn many new things about this great disciple, next Sunday morning at the 8:30 A.M. worship Service, that you have never known or forgotten from past studies. Attendance has good and interest has been excellent as we have tried to bring interesting sidelights and seldom taught, thoughts which helped to make the disciple of such character' that Jesus called him to be one.
