Ceckler Residence Scene Of Class Christmas Party Holiday Decorations Predominate As Members of Opportunity Class of Wesley Methodist Church Enjoy Program Thursday Evening Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ceckler opened their home in 1630 Lincoln Way, XW, Thursday evening for the annual Christinas of the members of the Opportunity class of Wesley Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. and Mrs.

Henry Thomas and Mrs. Arthur Gray assisted Mr. and Mrs. Ceckler. Thirty-seven guests were entertained.

Spruce branches tied with bright red cellophane bows were placed over the doors and archways and a large Christmas tree glistened in the solarium. Holly and red candles were other col- To Give Christmas Program. The senior Christmas program of St. John's church will be presented Sunday night in the church auditorium. Lola List Cover's Sunday school class is in charge and Mrs.

Cover will preside at the organ console and Mr. Cover will direct the Christmas choirs. The program follows: Prelude, Fantasie on a Christmas Night, Peaceful Wm. Ashmall; processional hymn, No. 83, "Hark, the' Herald Angels invocation.

Rev. J. E. Digel; hymn No. 84, "From Earth I Come" Heaven Above to Coming Meetings Dames of Malta.

A regular meeting of the Dames of Malta will be held this evening at 7:30 in the Odd Fellows hall. The covered dish dinner has been postponed but a gift exchange will be held and refreshments served. Wee Stitch It Club. The Wee Stitch It cJub will be entertained this evening at the home of Mrs. Velda Profant, Geiger SW.

This will be the Christmas Barber Entertains at Tea. Mrs. John J. Barber, retiring president of. the English Ladies' Aid society of St.

John's Evangelical church, gave a tea Thursday afternoon following the regular monthly meeting of the society in the church parlors. Christmas decorations made the table attractive and Mrs. Barber poured. Assisting at the table were Mrs. Albert C.

Fischer and Miss Lilian Digel. Loyal Council Inspection The annual inspection of Loyal '(old German 1540); party and a gift exchange will be a scripture reading and prayer, the feature. All members are asked to Rev. J. E.

Carols were sung and to the tune of ''Jingle Bells" Santa Claus, impersonated by Dick Taylor, made his appearance on the stairway and presented each guest with a gift. Gifts were presented by the class to Miss Bertha Martin, teacher of the class, and the Rev. and Mrs.

A. Miller told a Christmas story, "The Keeper of the Stable." Miss-Helen Bailey received a prize in a contest. Mr. Taylor presided at z. short business meeting when it was decided to fill baskets for the needy for Christmas.

Refreshments were served from a buffet table in the solarium. The table was beautifully appointed. In the center was a large popcorn ball containing many slender lighted red tapers around which were arranged spruce branches and pins cones. Tall red in tapers lighted the table. The favors were popcorn balls tied red cellophane.

Mr. and Mrs. A. Clyde Scourfield have invited the members of'the class to their new home in 18th NW, for the next meeting on Thursday evening. Jan.

20. The Rev. and Mrs. Miller. Mrs.

Brenner and Miss Ethel Mills.will assist the Scourfields in entertaining. Miss Mills is chairman of the committee. Guests at the party were Mr, and Mrs. Frank Boyle, Miss Bernadine Dennis. Howard and Wilnier Dennis.

St. John's Alnmni Dance. The eighth annual dance, sponsored by the alumni association of St. John's school, in Canton, will be held Monday evening, Dec. 27, in the K.

of C. club rooms in Canton. Lee "Stubby" Gordon's orchestra will play for dancing from 8:30 to 12:30. The dance will be semi-formal, and members of the association and friends are invited. Joseph Brubaugh, of Canton, fc general chairman, and Massillon members of the committee are Mr.

Edith Dixon conducted the devotional service last night at a meeting of the Loyal Woman's class at Lisbeths. An interesting feature pi the evening was the opening of trie mite boxes. Miss Doris Bloomberg, who participated in the Prince of Peace contest recently, read her selection, entitled "The Betrayal of by Meredith Nicholson.

Games and contests were enjoyed and refreshments served on tallies having Christmas decorations. Mrs. Fred Buhmair was hostess to the class assisted by Mrs. Charles Hostetter and Mrs. George Kammer.

Mrs. Goldie Stamets, Mrs. Charle Bantz and Mrs. William Herma gave a delightful Christmas party fo 22 members of the Ladies' Aid so ciety of the First United Brethre church, Thursday afternoon at th home of Mrs. Stamets when caro were sung-, the'Christmas story from the Bible read by Mrs.

Mary Fishe and a gift exchange was enjoyed. Mrs. Stamets gave a reading en titled "Christmas" and Mrs. Clarenc Cecil and Mrs. Arthur Wilhelm san "Silent Night." Mrs.

Snycle gave a reading, "Christmas Greet ings," Jack Stamets played a trum pet solo accompanied by Miss Alic Cecil. A business meeting- was V. F. W. Christmas Party.

The members of the V. F. W. auxiliary and post will hold a covered dish dinner Sunday night, Dec. 49, at 6 o'clock in the V.

F. W. club rooms. This will be the annual Christmas party and -an entertainment and program will follow dinner. Members of the post and auxiliary and their families are invited.

Choral Club to Rehearse. Court Massillon Choral club of Catholic Daughters-- of America will meet Sunday afternoon at 3:30 for rehearsal in the chapel of Massillon state hospital in preparation for singing of the Christmas mass. Myers P-T-A Myers P-T-A will meet this evening at 7:45 grade will furnish the program and the Rev. E. E.

Engle will be the guest speaker. Free From Care Club. Mrs. Clarence Snyder. of State NE, entertained the members of the Free From Care club Thursday evening, prizes going to Mrs.

Harry Fisher and Mrs. Catherine Rohr. Refreshments were served in the dining room, the table having a Santa Claus and reindeer for a centerpiece. There was a gift exchange and the next meeting will with Mrs. Bruno Zeismer weeks.

Maughiman as assisting hostess. Neighborhood Birthday Club Mrs. Lonzia McHenry, of 5th st. SW, entertained the members of the Neighborhood Birthday club, Wednesday night, with 15 members present Mrs. William.

Welling, of South Erie was assistant hostess. Prizes in SCO games went to Mrs. Jennie France and Mrs. Martha Murry and in bunco to Mrs. L.

Spence and Mrs. Little. Christmas decorations were used in the house and a Christmas tree formed the centerpiece of' the diningroom table at which refreshments were served. A g-jft exchange was held and the January meeting will be held with Mrs. Dorothy Higgle.

Royal Windsor Club. Mrs. Stella Sylvis delightfully entertained members of the Royal Windsor 500 club Wednesday evening at her residence in Shriver SE, prizes going to Mrs. Anna McKaig, Mrs. Helen Langenfeld and Mrs.

Delightful Affair The annual Christmas party of. the 81 club of Central Presbyterian church, held Thursday evening at the Woman's club was-'a delightful affair and attracted 50 guests. Dinner was served at tables arranged in the south parlors where a gaily decorated Christmas tree gave forth a Christ- masy atmosphere.

Poinsettias formed the centerpieces. and branches of evergreen together with red candles and the favors which were miniature Santa Claus topping nutcups wrapped in red, blue and green cellophane paper, created a colorful table. Talks and Contests At the table there were a number of minute speakers with Mrs. Ralph Elliott as toastmistress. Those giving talks were Mrs.

Allen Gordon, Dr. John Klinge, Dean McLaughlin, Robert Hoffman. Wallace-Pitcock, Selby Price, Mrs. J. Rodger Sillars, the Rev.

J. Rodger Sillars and Richard Hardman. Mrs. Elliott concluded the table Miss Martin Read Story Mrs. Amelia Geis had the scripture reading and prayer.

Miss Bertha Martin was a guest of the society and read a Christmas story. A memorial service was conducted in memory of the society who died during the past year, by Mrs. Cotda Ruwadi and Mrs. Fischer. A quartet composed of Mrs.

Alex Brown, Mrs. Connie Houghton, Mrs. Ray Snodgrass and Mrs. Ear! Fricker To Honor German Society Members of the German Ladies' Aid society will be guests of the members at a covered dish luncheon which will feature the first meeting of the new year on Jan. 20, when Mrs.

Melville Wagner will take -charge. Luncheon will be served at noon. program with a Christmas story. Contests were enjoyed with Mrs. Dean.

McLaughlin and Dr. Rohrbaugh receiving prizes later cards were played and a gift exchange was enjoyed. Special prizes were won by Mrs. Hovey and Reason Pitcock. Mrs.

Ford Brandon was chairman of the entertainment committee, Mrs. J. E. Klinge the" dinner 'and decorations and Mrs. Elliott the table program.

Annual Meeting The annual business meeting of the club will be held at the next meeting at the church on Jan. 20, when a covered dish dinner will be served. Martha Class Party. Thirty-two members the Mary Women's Welsh Club Christmas carols and the Christmas story, f.oid by Mrs. Ben Thomas, featured the party of the Women's Welsh club, Thursday evening, in the Y.

W. C. A. Mrs. Charles Spicer accompanied the carol singing.

The party was held in the upstairs lounge, where a beautifully decorated tree has been placed. Contests and games were played and there was a gift exchange. Mrs. Mary Utslcrand Mrs. James Lewis received special prizes.

Justus Women Hostesses A group of Justus members, including Mrs. S. Evans, Mrs. Warren Savage, Mrs. Gladys Klein, Mrs.

Walter BOWMI, Mrs. Sadie Reese and Mrs. Kapfer served delicious refreshments. council Ne. 22, Daughters of America, was held Thursday evening, in the Junior Order club, with a good attendance, in spite of the inclement weather, and the large number of members who are ill.

Several candidates were initiated and a number reinstated. All ritualistic work was creditably exemplified. Family Party Planned The Gcod of the Order committee is planning a good time party to be held-in the Junior Ordsr hall, Tuesday evenin, Dec. 28, for members 'and families. Refreshments will be served and there will be treats for the children.

A program' is planned, and members having children who to participate, are asked to call Mrs, Hattie Williams by Sunday. Rehearsal will be held Monday afternoon, Dec. 27. Good of the Order committee members, will also meet with Mrs. Williams, that afternoon.

Mrs. Caroline Pry's committee will meet with her, the date to be announced: A committee was appointed to cooperate with the Junior Social club for the Friday evening card parties. Loyal council has received an invitation to initiate a class for.Winona council at Canal Fulton on Tuesday evening, Jan; J8, when annual inspection will be held. The union meeting of Loyal coucil and other councils of the western part of this district has been set for the third Thursday of February, with Loyal council as the hostess council. Mrs.

Miss Edna Rigdon was chairman of the annual Christmas party of the Class in the Corner of the First Methodist church, Thursday evening, which was held in the class room lighted with many candles and decorated for the Yuletide season. Forty guests were present. A short program was presented which included carols, a Christmas story by Miss Elizabeth TJhlendorf, who told Van Dyke's, "The Other a "The Birthday of the King," by-Mrs. Wallace Ross. A gift exchange was a feature of the evening and the refreshment table was decorated with small trees and lighted candles.

The next meeting of the class wil be held Jan. 13, at the home of Mrs. Paul Bammerlin, of Oak SE. Special Singing: Tonight A feature of the services in progress at the church of the Nazarene this evening will be a juvenile trio known as the Hot-tetter Trio. These boys have sang here before and are well worth hearing.

The services are being well attended and the messages of Evangelist McPeelc are proving very interesting, and this series of revival meetings has been in progress now for nearly six weeks, but will close Sunday evening. A special service is being planned for Sunday morning and the public is invited to attend. Old Gang Club The Old Gang club met recently vith Mrs. Amos Wiese, of State prizes going, to Mrs. Esther Swisher, Mrs.

EnYma Swisher, Mrs. Annie Leonard and Mrs. A. Wacker. Refreshments were served on card The next will be held vith Mrs.

Flo Lotliers, of Cliff W. A Christinas exchange will be held. Mothers Jewels Mothers Jewels of the First Methodist Episcopal church held a Christmas party Thursday afternoon in the church with Mrs. C. C.

Allison in charge, assisted by Mrs. Clarence Raf- fath and Mrs. Robert Dempster. The room' was decorated- with a lighted Christmas tree and the program consisted of a Yuletide story and games. Refreshments were served', candy canes being the favors.

Twelve children were present. Entertains Bridge Club Mrs. Drexel Jenks entertained the members of her bridge club at Wolfes Thursday night prizes going to Mrs. Marie Veithmyer, Mrs. Dale Krciger and Mrs.

Robert Shrake. Mrs. Willard Boerner was a guest of the club. A gift exchange was held after which refreshments were served on the card tables decorated with miniature Christmas trees. The club will meet in four weeks with Miss Florence Ortwein.

Entertained Employes at Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewis entertained the employes of the F. W. Woolworth at an informal dinner party Thursday evening at heir home in the Avan Oak SE.

Appointments in blue and silver were used on the dinner table. Covers were laid for 18. Bingo Played Bingo was played after dinner. The employes presented Mr. Lewis, who is manager of fch company, and' Mrs.

Lewis with a beautiful blanket. Silk hose were presented to the girls and ties to the men by the host and hostess. appointments prevailing. Miss Ruth Bailey, of -Lincoln Way, NW, will be hostess the club-on Jan. 6.

Class Holds Luncheon Fifteen members of the Dorcas class of the First Baptist church met Thursday- for a 'covered dish luncheon at noon-at; the residence'of A. J. Wilson, of Ertle NE. The table was decorated in red and silver. Mrs.

O. and Mrs. Mandeville were assistant hostesses and Mrs. Ben Thomas conducted the devotions. In addition to a gift exchange between the members the class presented the teacher, Mrs.

W. D. Jones, with a gift. Mrs. S.

W. Ashbolt will be the January hostess. Sewing Club Members of the Sippo Sewing club held their annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange at the home Mrs. Jesse Boyd. Officers were elected.
