SAN SABA (Texas) NEWS JULY LOCAL MERCHANTS WELL STOCKED Oh BACK-TO-SCHOOL AND RELATED ITEMS The school bell will be tolling soon and the merchants of San Saba have prepared for the "Back to School" season by stocking their stores with the latest fall items for not only the college set but also for children going to school for the first time, Mrs. Nettie Scott, Manager of the Retail Merchants Association, said Wednesday. She urged shoppers to make their selections now and not wait until after school has opened and the large stock of merchandise the stores have on hand has been depleted. Most of the local stores, Mrs. Scott said, have easy payment plans for the convenience of buyers whose ready cash was spent for Vacations or for some unexpected expenses.

Under this plan a shopper can buy now and pay for the merchandise either next month or over a period of time by monthly payments. Mrs. Scott predicted that fait outfits would probably be the most popular sellers of the "Back to School" season and in preparation department stores and specialty shops have stocked the latest fashions in the fall wear ries. She said the "Chanel" look was expected to be popular this year among the co-eds and many merchants are featuring plaid Bermuda type shorts for casual wear, wool jersey middy dresse 8 and DR. SEO.

A. SMITH Optometrist Thursdays, 9 till 6 San Saba, Texas three-piece suits with knife pleated skirts. Iris blue with green and pepper red and charcoal are expected to be the most popular colors for the college set this fall. For the younger set complete new outfits may be needed since the boy and girls have probably outgrown the clothes they wore last fall. She urged shoppers to make the rounds of the shoe stores, jewelry stores, children's shops, deparment stores and specialty shops to look at bargains offered.

NOW that most areas of Texas are "off drouth relief" and rainy seasons are expected to be with us for the next few years, Mrs. Scott suggested that raincoats and other rainy weather acces- aories be added to the children's I wardrobe. Furniture stores arc now offer- i ing many attractive desks and other study items. Most drug stores and variety stores carry a large and assorted stock of school supplies that al) students will need in class. i Football, basketball and other sports fquipment which the children will need for "gym" and after recreation 13 available at any sporting goods store.

While are expected to be the big Celling item, parents should not forget to stock other fall merchandise, she reminded. For example, said, now is the time to have the family "bun" checked to determine whether new tires and battery are needed and to consider now buying a heater for the car. Mrs. Scott said ma housewives do their fall food buying in the late summer and stock the fresh vegetables that won't be on the market in a few months in Whether your service needs are large or small: from a tune-up to a complete motor overhaul, our specially trained mechanics will do the work quickly and efficiently with the very latest equipment.
