10. 10, 8 pm, 2, In Real Life: Most Australians view the destruction of our magnificent forests for export as woodchips to make cardboard and other paper products which we. then buy back at considerable cost as a futile equation. Eden, on the Far South Coast, has seen the whaling industry come and go and its prosperous fishing industry ruined by depletion. The only natural resource left is trees.

If they go, what is left? Where do the next lot of jobs come from? All sorts of know-it-alls and nuisances who don't have answers to such questions are congregating in the town trying to save the forests for everyone not themselves or the locals. Understandably a lot of local people find it hard to push aside the pressing needs of the present and live happily in the future. The multitude of moral dilemmas in the environmental debate are thrown up yet again in this program. Ultimately though, we have to decide whether we really own the planet, whether we are here through privilege and whether we can hope to survive if we continually take from nature without paying back. 7.30 pm, -9, The Flying Second Opinions: The new doctor in town, David Ratcliffe, disagrees with Dr Randall about organ transplants.

Will Dr Ratcliffe's credibility be enhanced by his candy pink E-Type Jaguar festooned with personalised plates reading BIMBO? Who has stolen the rectal thermometer? Can Gavin convince Samantha that isolation is the natural condition of Australian art? And what of the Hitler diaries? Beneath the warmth of a lush sunset, there looms an awful fear that somebody will find out the truth. 9.25 pm, SBS, The Happy Life (1982): Further medical antics from Spain of a kind rarely seen at Coopers Crossing. A doctor in a VD clinic is aghast when her husband turns up at the house of blue light for treatment after a dangerous liaison. Viewers fearing AIDS are advised to place a condom over the set during the program. 6, 6, 7, 9, 9.
