On Saturday, hundreds of former students and teachers are expected to return to the decaying campus for a time of reminiscence and a celebration of the land that eventually will become a park. A powwow and picnic are open to the public at no cost. The day's activities will begin with a 21 -flag brocession, each flag representing one of the 21 Arizona tribes. Throughout the day, there will be a powwow of Native American dancers and drummers wearing traditional dress. Included will be the popular "gourd dance." Another highlight will be a concert by the Fort Mohave (Calif.) Indian Marching Band.

The festivities will include entertainment by the Arizona Pride Coggers, Ballet Folkldrico del Camino Real, the GiGi Dixon Band and the Salt River Bottom Band. Families are encouraged to bring picnic lunches to the campus or buy food from vendors on site. The powwow and picnic will be held at the site of a proposed 75-acre community park on the 1 10-acre school campus. At noon, a special blessing of the land will be performed by a See POWWOW, page D3 chindler's List is a great movie that serves a greater purpose. This epic story of one man's conscience reminds the world that an individual's rise to heroism in the face of mass insanity can make a difference.

Based on a true story, Schindler's List is so powerful in its depiction of Nazi atrocities during World War II that, if you can sit through the movie, you will never forget it. While director Steven Spielberg does a masterful job, it's not his moviemaking skills that stand out but the lesson of history. From the massacre of innocents to the Nazi death camps, this movie serves to remind the conscience of the world that if it can happen once, it can happen again. Set in Krakow after the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Schindler's List tells the story of thousands of Polish Jews who are forced into ghettos, then massacred, with the survivors herded into labor camps that are indistinguishable from death camps. Contrasted to this account of horror is the story of Oscar Schindler (Liam Neeson).

A Nazi playboy and war profiteer, Schindler uses Jewish money, brains and labor to open up a Polish factory and make huge profits through army contracts. The film details Schindler's transformation from a man of commerce into a man of conscience.
