Admission is free.

It will be anything but a lukewarm reception Saturday for the Suns, who are being honored with a party and parade to celebrate their Western Conference championship season. More than 100,000 people are expected to converge on downtown Phoenix and endure temperatures of 100 degrees or more.

The "Salute to the Phoenix Suns" parade begins at 9 a.m. at First Street and Jefferson. Suns players will cruise by in convertibles. Joining them will be their coaches, families, the Suns Gorilla and the Suns-themed city buses. After the parade, the players and coaches will join Phoenix Mayor Paul Johnson and Gov.

Planners recommend that people arrive early; the parade route will close at 8 a.m. Downtown has 28,000 parking spaces, but organizers are urging spectators to travel downtown by bus.
