It may not be, if you've wrapped your baby in several blankets. Temperatures of babies who are bundled too much commonly rise, mimicking fever, the American Academy of Pediatrics reports. Researchers at San Francisco Hospital say such mock fevers cause unnecessary testing and hospitalization of infants because even doctors are fooled. Advice for parents is. to dress a newborn in one more layer of clothing than they are wearing to be comfortable in the same environment.

For doctors, the researchers recommend asking parents how many blankets the baby was wrapped in when the "fever" developed. Older adults advised to chew sugarless gum Chewing sugarless gum will help older adults prevent tooth decay and gum disease, according to the American Academy of General Dentistry. Older people are at risk of developing such problems because they produce less mucin, a protein found in saliva. Chewing gum, as well as using fluoride rinse and fluoride toothpaste, will help, the academy reports. SETYjOl RfflW "ftarertla 'I -I'-pj1- i 4 1 1 256-9111 tmm tihese guys hit the held, Raymond E.

Suite 700, Phoenix, Arizona 8501 2 Published: Arizona Republic October 1 8, 25. 1993 JACKSON, Miss. Former Mayor Russell C. Davis, who moved to heal racial divisions in Jackson during his eight years at City Hall, died Saturday of cancer. He was 71.

Mayor Davis, who was in office from 1969 to 1977, succeeded segregationist Allen Thompson, who had served five terms. "I think he will be remembered as a person who attempted to build bridges instead of walls," said state Sen. Doug Anderson, D-Jackson. "It was in his administration that blacks began participating in city government." Mayor Davis also was an early advocate of moving from a mayor-commission form of government, controlled by a mayor and two commissioners, to a mayor-council arrangement the city adopted in 1985. Under the change, Jackson now has a black-majority council.
