CBS, which already had seen Fox win the rights to broadcast National Football League games that CBS held for four decades, now faces the further humbling exercise of having to seek new, and probably weaker, affiliates in many of the largest cities in the country, including Dallas, Detroit, Cleveland and Atlanta.

No home yet has been found for Channel 10's current CHS fare such as The Late Show With David Letter-wan; Murder, She Wrote; or The CBS Evening News.

KPHO-TV (Channel 5) and Channel 15 are expected to vie for rights to CBS programming. Channel 5 officials acknowledged that they would try to land the CBS affiliation.
