Shows Dally Ann Landers and Her Answers News From Neighboring Towns Slowpokes Also Poor Tippers Woody Allen takes a Nostalgic Look at the Future. cAllen Dear Ann Landers: I agree xvith you that the tipping system in our country is lousy that employers should pay the people who work for them and not pass the burden on to the customer. But so long as the system exists, waitresses must depend on it i to get by.

I am no longer a waitress, but being one for six years was a i great learning experience for I me. It taught me to be consider- i ate of others. For example: I remember how four and five secretaries used to sit at a table for two hours at lunch, ask for third cups of coffee, and leave 15 cents each even though they were making at least $500 a month. It never occurred to them that they were tying up a table that otherwise might be used by two or even three other groups whose tips would help a waitress pay her rent. Of course, a tip is a gift but so is thoughtfulness and consideration.

Thanks for letting me sound off. NO NAME Dear I am sure you spoke for thousands of waiters and waitresses from coast to coast, and on behalf of them all, I thank you. answered are these: Do I have a moral obligation to continue to five with my mother since we bought the house together? It would be impossible to move my new wife in with us because they are not compatible. Also, I will have custody of my children and my mother doesn't get along with them because she despises their mother. I realize now I made a mistake buying this house with Mother.

She can't keep it up without my help. What's more, she is doing her best to make me feel guilty about suggesting that she live alone again. Any answers? TOO MANY COMMITMENTS Dear T. M. The house must be sold so your mother can get her down payment back and you can have a life with your children and the woman of your choice.

Of course, you will have to help set Mother up in a. new apartment and continue to. take her marketing, to the doctor, etc. You owe her this, but you do not owe her your life. 1 -t Dear Ann Landers: Last week, we had a birthday party for a.

girl who works in our office. all agreed that nobody could spend more than $3. I didn't have time to shop, I went to the drugstore downstairs and picked up a bottle bubble bath. They don't, eft- wrap. Everything goes in a sack.

It looked awful, so I threw the sack away ana presented the bubble bath in the original box. I was later told that I had insulted the hostess an unwrapped gift like coming to a party naked. It shows you didn't think she was worth HARTFOHD and William Gorman and William Hurtii went to Gardner Sunday to visit Miss Katherine Hurtig, who is Mrs. Gorman's and Mr. Hurtig's sister.

An unwrapped gift is pretty tacky, but it not a crime. Had you gone to the party naked you could have been arrested for indecent exposure. Forget it Ann Lanflers wffl be napny ti. you with your problems. Send them to her at Box 3346.
