The two-day program is being arranged by Hagg Post No. 90 of the American Legion, with 'the Chamber of Commerce co-operating. The largest carnival to ever appear on the streets of Algona has been booked for the occasion, the Royal United Shows of Minneapolis. Algona automobile dealers are planning a parade of old-time motor cars, probably for each afternoon of the Centennial celebration. Clayton Percival is chairman of this event. Algona stores plan on decorating their windows with displays of items from pioneer days. All stores will remain open 'both rt El vs Thursday noon, July 11, an Old Settler's Picnic is toeing planned. Registration of old timers will take place bciween 10i30 a. m. and Ili30 a. m. 6A the cdurihouse squats. Julius Jensen was born in Denmark, April 8, 1B70. He was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church and' In early manhood worked as a baker in Copenhagen and Helsingfors. At the age of ,23 he left his home and came to America where he first lived at Lambertbn, Minn. In 1897,he was married to Lena Jeremiason of Emmetsburg. This home was blessed With six children, Amelia,. Florence, Carl, Pearl, Helen and Herbert. : He served as assistant manager o*f a creamery in Emmetsburg and later as manager at Hoprig, Iowa. In 1915,' rheumatism forced him lo change his vocation and ho moved his family to his farm-in Kossuth county, near Buffalo Center where he resided until his death. He was an accomplished musician and his love for good music is the treasured heritage of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the First . Methodist ihurch of Buffalo Center.
