Set. I The Beane (Texaa) Desaeerat, TrMar. 9. 1M2 The Hearne Democrat WMS Program Topic The monthly missionary meeting of Woman's Missionary Society, First Baptist Church was held Tuesday morning at the church with the president, Mrs. M.

O. Baker, presiding. The 75th anniversary program was presented by the Mary Ann Anderson Circle under the direction of Mrs. John Childers. Mrs.

C. B. Thames, Mrs. G. Penningtqn and Mrs.

Leon Wilson represented of 1888 and related briefly facts about the organizational meeting of W. in 1888. Mrs. Joe Wilson, Mrs. Jack Kelly and Mrs.

Charlie. Miller, typifying modern day-, women, told of some of the achievements of the organization in the past 75 years. Mrs. Doyle Marchbanks and Mrs. Jimmy Fleetwood, representing the W.

M. S. member of 1963 and the Youth.of W. M. U.

respectively gave the great challenge which faces the women and youth of 1963 in accepting the responsibilities which placed within, their grasp. T. H. Carswell gave the morning Call to and Mrs. Childers closed the program with a In the business meeting which followed, Mrs.

H. Crowders Entertain Club On Thursday, November members of the Happy Hour Club, were entertained with a luncheon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. Crowder.

Geranium blossoms enhanced the. decor of the home and harmonized in color with a rare-species of touch-me-nots in coral shade that formed the attractive centerpiece at the luncheon table where a delicious menu featuring, an entree course of baked ham was served. Cokes were served during the afternoon as those attending enjoyed fellowship in visiting and handiwork for their hostess. Those participating in the generous hospitality offered by Mrs. Crowder were Mrs.

0. Baker Home Mrs. M. O. Baker welcomed members of the Winsome Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, at her home Tuesday evening, November 6, for the monthly business and social meeting of the class.

After calling the meeting to order, the class president, Mrs. W. O. Little, asked members-to repeat the class prayer in unison. The opening prayer was offered by Mrs.

V. M. Newell, class teacher. Following reports by the secretary, vice president, assistant secretary and group leaders, old and new business was discussed. A food committee, consisting of Mrs.

L. W. Neumann, Mrs. John Childers and Mrs. H.

P. Moss, was appointed to plan the annual family Christmas dinner party of the class. The business discussion was dismissed with prayer by Mrs. O. L.

Harris. Mrs. Little then introduced Mrs. M. E.

Jones, guest speaker for the evening, who brought an interesting devotional titled, "Forgiveness." Mrs. Baker served a refreshment plate of pineapple a la mode with coffee and hot tea as her thirteen guests enjoyed a social hour at the conclusion of the program. Mrs. G. Pennington Addresses Class Mrs.

Gary Pennington brought an inspiring message on "Thanksgiving Offering" to members of the" Friendship Sunday School Class, First Baptist Church, Tuesday evening in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Rogers. F. T.

presided at the seven-thirty o'clock monthly business and' social meeting which was opened with prayer by Mrs. R. W. Pearson. At the conclusion of Mrs.

Pennington's talk, members -joined in singing the Doxology and the prayer of adjournment was offered by Mrs. M. J. Carlegis. During the evening the class presented a farewell gift to Mrs.

Pearson, who is moving back to Dimmitt to make her home. A Thanksgiving decor lent I festive air to the reception room where the fourteen attending were served a dessert plate of cherry tarts, coffee and punch by Mrs. Ropers and her co-hostess, Mrs. L. H.

Collie, during the social hour. Members attending the meeting besides Mrs. Green, Mrs. Pen- Mrs. and Mrs Pearson were Mrs.

Garrison. appointed refreshment table, laid with a white cloth, and holding a floral arrangement of white chrysanthemums, accented by red berries, and a beautiful white birthday cake embellished with pink confection rosettes, an inscription of "Happy Birthday" and nine pink and white candles. Following a series of games that were played for amusement a refreshment course of sandwiches, punch and birthday cake was served to the honoree and following guests: Gerardine Mayes, Cathy Wilson, Suzi Smith, Priscilla Corpora, Sandra Corpora, Bernadette Corpora, Marilyn Scamardo, Frances Reistino, Diane Reistino, Nancy and Vivian Boedeker, Ginger Campise, Mary Jane Fleming, Cindy Degelia, Deborah DeStefano, Linda Cortemelia.

Debra Davis, Jo Ann Cortemelia, Betty Bingham, Nancy Sander, Jeanne Pursley, Jeanie Simonton, Marsha Rachui, Julie Tonn, Madeline Ferrara, Frances Zeig, George Pharis Jr. and Tracey Varvel. Mrs. P. L.

Scamardo and Mrs. Vince Corpora assisted Mrs. Dencna with hostess duties. Hospital Notes Mrs. Donie Starkey and Mrs.

J. W. New of Franklin, who are still hospitalized locally for injuries resulting from a recent automobile accident, are improving satisfactorily. Mrs. Willie M.

Menn of Franklin, formerly of Hearne, is seriously ill in Methodist Hospital, Houston. Mrs. Gerald Murphy submitted to chest surgery in Grossmont General Hospital, La Mesa, Calif. on Wednesday. Mrs.

Murphy is the former Alice Claire Brady and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Brady. Which of the following is spelled correctly? Donna McLeroy Entertains Class Donna McLeroy entertained the twelve-year-old girls' Sunday School class, First Baptist Church, with a Halloween party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald McLeroy, when. the class held its monthly business and social meeting the evening of October 29. Following the opening prayer by Margaret Cox, a short was brought Mrs.

McLeroy. Other members of the class attending were Sherry Elliott, Christie Tonn and Leah Mooney. Patio Party For Margaret Denena Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Denena honored their daughter, Margaret Mary, with a party at their home from four until five-thirty o'clock Friday afternoon, November 2.

Parents of elementary age children are invited to attend this study session. F. W. McCormicks Host Class Meet Members of the Ruth Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church held their regular business and social meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Wayne McCormick at seven-thirty o'clock Monday evening. Following the call to order by the president, Mrs. Jack Fulton, prayer was offered by Mrs. Claude Tindle Jr. Mrs.

Jack Mathews, leader for the month, gave a devotional on Rebecca, a woman of the Bible. During the business discussion plans were made for the annual Christmas party of the class. At the social hour. Mrs. McCormick served cake, nuts, coffee and Cokes to hei guests who included those mentioned, Mrs.

Stotts, Mrs. James Hairston and Mrs. Horace Mathews. Celebration Marks 88th Birthday R. Peyton celebrated his eighty-eighth birthday on November with dose relatives and friends at his home.

Those joining him and his daughter, Miss Barbara Peyton, for the occasion included his niece, Miss Margaret Peyton, and Sam Rice Jr. of Beochley, who arrived bearing gifts and a natal confection for the celebration. The Rev. and Mrs. John A. Brady and children, Scott, Johnny and Lydia, of Houston were in Hearne last weekend to visit their parents, Mr. and Mrs.

M. Brady They came at this time to attend homecoming 'festivities' at Baylor University, Wfcco. They plan to visit in Hearne again this weekend and attend the homecoming activities of Hearne High School. WAYNE OLDHAM 13- year-old son of Mr. and Mrs.

Wayne Oldham, recently appeared in "Bye Bye Birdie" at the University of Colorado, Boulder Colorado. This is the third appearance in stage productions by the young singing star. His mother is the former Ruth Johnson, a 1941 graduate of Hearne High School. His grandparents arc Mrs. Lynn Johnson of Hearne and Mr.

Carl Baker of Beevttle was a weekend guest of her sisters, Mrs. Emma Stephens and Mra. Evelyn Baker. She came at this time to visit with another sister, Mrs. Mike McGar, who returned home to Morgan City, La.
