1941 SCHOOLS GIVEN $66,984 AID BY STATllCOUNTY County Treasurer Completes Apportionment of Public School Funds. Oneida coun-ty's public schools, including those' in Rhinelander, this week received checks totaling $66,983.82 as the approtionment of public school funds for 1939-40 was completed by Mrs. Anna Gruper, county treasurer. This is the first time since 1932 that the.full amount of state aid, as allotted by the state legislature, was made available to the schools. In other years, the actual state aid available for schools was less than the promised amount and the money had to be prorated among the schools.

Of the total amount, $20,000 was sent to the Rhinelander schools and $44,983.82 to the schools in the 19 towns of the county. The largest amount received by any town was the $5,100 sent to Pelican. Amounts Are Explained. According to J. M.

Reed, county superintendent of schopls, the basic school aid. is paid at the rate of $250 per elementary teacher, provided the average'daily attendance per. teacher is 25 or more, regardless of the assessed valuation of the district. If this valuation is less than $200,000 per teacher, then an additional amount is allotted'for each elementary teacher and is determined by multiplying the school tax rate in the district by the difference between $200,000 and the actual assessed yaluatpn of the district. This multiplier or tax rate cannot exceed four mills', nor can the product of 'such multiplication, equally the additional aid, exceed $350 per teacher in figuring this additional aid.

The highest possible amount which any school can receive in state aid is $600 per elementary teacher, including the $250 basic state aid and the additional $350 aid. This maximum would apply only in school districts where there is a low assessed valuation and a relatively high local tax rate. Aid Given by County. In addition to the state aid, the school districts are allotted $250 county aid per elementary teacher with the provision that where one elementary teacher is employed the average daily attendance must not be less than 10. Where two teachers are employed, such attendance must be between 26 and 50, where there are three teachers the attendance must be between 51 and 75, and where four teachers are employed RHlNELANDEfc (W1S.) NEWH the attendance must be between 76 and 100.

Where the attendance is less than 10, the district receives $25 as state aid and a similar amount in county aid for each pupil in average daily attendance.
