CLARA WESSEL, 76, RITES FRIDAY, BURT Burt: Mrs. Clara Wessel, widow of the late Rev. George H. Wessel, died at her home here about one a. m, Wednesday after being confined to her bed about a week following a heart attack. Previous to that she had been confined to her home .-several months with heart trouble. Clara Adelia Hartwick was born September 27, 1869, the daughter of John and Christina Hartwick, near McGregor. She attended the rural schools near McGregor and also attended the German English college at Galena, 111., for two years. On October i, 1891, she was married to the Rev. George H. Wessel, who served Methodist churches at Le Mars, Dubuque, Burt, Gladbrook, and Klemme. They then lived six years at Red- field, S. D., while the ftev. Wfes- sel was district superintendent. They then served charges at Reinbeck, and the Morgan church near Dows. In 1935 they moved to Burt, which has sihcet been her home. Mrs. Wessel was the mother of two children, Lurena, at home, and Herschel, who died in 1896. Her husband also preceded her in death on December 21, 1944. Mrs. Wessel is survived by her daughter Lurena, and by a broth* er, Thees Hartwick, McGregor. Funeral services Were held at 1:30 p. in. Friday at the local Methodist church, the Rev. F. E. BUrgess conducting the service, assisted by the local pastor, the Rev. A. G. Heddle, and the Rev. N. A. Price, Algona. The body was taken to Monona, where a service was held Saturday afternoon at . the Schultz Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerrell and the Rev. Radueze, Monona, conducted the service.
