Local Happenings From Franklin By Mrs. J. G. Lyles Mrs. Joe Wilson and daughters of Hearne were Sunday guests of her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Bobby Drew Wallace of Houston were guests of his mother and sister, Mrs. J. L. Wallace and Mrs.

Brooker Stegall, Mr. Stegall and children, last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. H.

W. Rabe had as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith and Mr. and Mrs.

T. H. Rabe and family last week. Miss Kathryn Bishop, Mrs. Alice Westbrook of Hearne, and Mr.

and Mrs. C. S. Anchicks of Bremond were Sunday evening guests of Mrs. Lucy Mar is.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mitchell, Mrs. Velma Mitchell and her mother, Mrs. Cole, went to Dallas Wednesday to attend the funeral of Frank Cole, Mrs.

Cole's son. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Baxter and Don attended a birthday party for Amy Lynn and Melanie Record in Bryan Saturday. The girls are the granddaughters of Mr.

and Mrs. Baxter and the great granddaughters of Mrs. T. Baxter of Franklin. Greg Baxter, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Thomas Baxter of Bryan was bitten by a dog Saturday night. The little fellow was fol- owing his mother to the grocery store when the dog ran out from a residence and attacked him. He required several stitchea in his thigh. The police have the dog under observation.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Turner and daughter, Nora Alice, and Dr. and Mrs. Reagan Hicks of Fort Polk, were Saturday guests of Mr.

and Mrs. Carlton Hicks and children. Miss Mary Hall of Houston father of Mrs. Cliff Loreant, ShoWCF returned to his home in Houston after several weeks stay a hospital. Mrs.

Loreant reports her father as much improved. spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J.

Hall and Catherine recently. Sunday visitors in the Edgar Elledge home were Mr. and Mrs. W. J.

Raley and Roger of Hearne, and Jimmy Deal of Fort Hood. Mrs. James A. Wright of San Antonio was a weekend guest of Mrs. Lois Bennett is in a Hearne hospital for surgery this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Box and children of Pasadena were guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.

L. Box, last weekend. Mrs. Sadie Simmons is visiting in Houston with her daughters, Mrs. Al New and Mr.

New, and Mrs. Ben Griffith, Mr. Griffith and children. J. B.

Wllkins Jr. of Austin spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. J. B. Wilkins, Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Windham and son and Miss Merle Windham of Dallas were weekend guests of Rev. and Mrs. Townes Windham and Will. Mrs.

Agnes Phillips of Dallas spent the weekend at her home her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. A i New Baden and in the home Wilder. Miss M'Liss Harrison of San Antonio visited friends in Franklin over the weekend and attended the combat ball at College, the guest of Wallace Menn, a senior student there.

L. S. Hurley, Mrs. Sonny Elliott and Mrs. Louis Merryman were hostesses, In the receiving line were the honoree, Mrs.

Bates, Mn. Faye Perkins and Mrs. Woodall. Pink punch, cake squares and salted nuts were served from a beautifully appointed table. Serving the guests were Miss Mary Ellege and Miss Elizabeth Perkins.

The lovely gifts were displayed on tables in a small anteroom adjoining the party room. Many friends called during the afternoon. Sewing Club Met Tuesday The sewing club met with Mra. Alice Coalson Tuesday, March 6, for a covered dish luncheon. A delicious meal was served in the private dining room of Moody's Cafe.

A business meeting was held following lunch. Five members were present: of her sister, Mrs. Winston Lewis and Mr. Lewis. Mr.
