comedy, with Wayne Morris, Tfcim Brown, 1 hr. BY TOM RYAN TUMBLEWEEDS PRINCESS PUZZLE In 1588, my dashing ancestor, Duke Murya-troyd, decided to seek the gnarled hand Mystica's ageing princess. "To toin my daughter, you must solve the Royal Riddle," croaked the king, as he led Murgatroyd down into the grottoes. "Here are our caves. Each is guarded either by a liar or a truthteller.

"One of the caves (guarded by a truthteller) contained a vast treasure. Deduce which it is, and the loot and the lady-are yours." First to speak was Guard Abelard, who stood by Cave One. "The treasure is in neither Cave 2 nor 3," he said. "It's in No. 3 cried the Cave 2 guard, Beowulf.

"It's in 4 said Cave 3's guard, Christopher. Guard Digby had the last word. Abelard, Beowulf and Chris are liars," he said. Duke Murgatroyd deduced in two seconds ivhich cave contained the treasure. Your time limit: Two minutes.

SOLUTION TOMORROW. it says: i ax WHAT'S THAT SAtf TUMBLYkVEEPS? its fr, if i COR the best part of a year I lived together with the New Hebrideans in their- leaf villages, rinding out about the Incomes of the people, how they earned and spent money, and the possibilities for small trade. This was one of the nicest things lye ever done- the atmosphere was one of almost unbelievable peace." Mrs Tessa Fowler was in Melbourne yesterday about her first visit to the New Hebrides 10 years ago. She found it so pleasant she has now made her home there and is enthusiastically promoting the New Hebridean tourist trade. Mrs.

Fowler, who has her MA in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford did economic research on road transport in the United and worked in travel promotion research' In England before going to the New Hebrides in 1958. The purpose bf this initlak visit was to gather information for the author of an economic survey of the area, she said. In 1959 she went to Hong Kong "to do a Job tied in with the road research I'd done In the USA." She worked on a government-commissioned study for a bridge between the island and Kow-loon on the mainland. "I estimated how many cars would go from A to she said. "However this was only a preliminary investigation and nothing more seemed to be done." She then went home to England to do market research.

"I found London cold, wet and grey after life In the South Pacific," she said. "And the slow pace of life in the New Hebrides became enormously attractive." Mrs. Fowler returned to the islands to live permanently in 1961. She said that it was fairly difficult to find work In the New Hebrides, for a few years she did anything that came to hand. "For Instance, I ran two Island trade stores.

What did I sell Anything the New Hebrideans would buy hurricane lamps, tinned meat, cheap material in very brilliant colors. "The life of the trade store keeper is one of the most attractive in the world, but it's almost impossible to earn enough to keep alive," she continued. "My store was open from dawn to dusk 1 but if I didn't feel like work, I shut the place up and went down to the beach (customers would come and find me if they wanted to), "I suppose that's why I never made any money." As she speaks French fluently, she also did some translating and interpreting. In 1964 Mrs. Fowler became the first employe of the new Chamber of Commerce In the New Hebrides and is now Its administrative secretary.

"At first this organisation wasn't quite sure what its function was," she said, "but it was soon evident that tourist promotion was the most useful thing for the community. "It is only right that the New Hebrides such a wonderfully beautiful place should be better known so that more people can visit it." Mrs. Fowler, whose Australian husband Is a builder and part-time artist, now lives in Vila, the capital of the island. "Vila, with a population of 2000, is a fairly modern town with 2 and 3-storey buildings even if it only has one street." she said. Play School, 3.35 ABV-2: 25 min.
