Services are pending at Jack Rowe Funeral Home. Bessie M. Howell TEXAS CITY Bessie Maybelle Howell, 87, of Texas City died Tuesday, March 2, 1993 at Danforth Hospital in Texas City.

Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, graveside at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock with Rev. Leo Smith officiating. Burial will follow graveside services. Born January 6, 1905 in Black Hills, North Dakota.

She resided in Texas City for 65 years, formerly of Black Hills, North Dakota, member of St. Michael Episcopal Church. Survivors include his son, Marlin L. Howell Sr. of La Marque; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

James Crowder Funeral Home John F. Junker HOUSTON John F. Junker, 81. died on Monday, March 1,1993 in Houston. A native of Galveston, he was a longtime Houston resident.

Mr. Junker was the former owner of John Junker Printing and Office Supplies in the Hermann Professional Building. He was a 32 Mason and had received his 50 year pin in late 1992. Mr. Junker is survived by his widow, Winiferd; a son, Joe Blieden; grandchildren, James Blieden and Debra Streeter; great- grandchildren, Virginia Streeter, sisters, Mrs.

Hazel Spatz of Tyler and Mrs. Lois Bonawitz and her husband, W.A. of La Marque. The family will receive friends on Friday at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, Westheimer at Dairy Ashford, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6,1993 at 11:30 a.m.

Forest Park Westheimer Gertrude E. LEAGUE CITY Gertrude Eletha Fields, 91, of League City passed away Tuesday at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster. Born April 19, 1901 in Wickes, Arkansas, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dickinson and former long-time resident of Dickinson. Preceded in death by her husband, henry Fields and daughter Dale DePalermo. Survived by sons, Carl L.

Fields of Roseburg, OR, Henry RV. Fields of Baytown, Billy A. Fields of Arlington, Frankie G. of Nacogdoches, Vernon Fields of League City and Ronnie D. Fields of Hatfield, daughter, Mary Evelyn LeBow of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; twenty-one grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, in the Jack Rowe Cathedral Chapel with Rev. Warren Evans officiating, burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

Grissom TEXAS CITY Johnnie Pearl Grissom, 85, of Texas City died March 1,1993 at Sea Breeze Nursing Home.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Rev. Leo Smith officiating. Burial will follow services at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation was held Wednesday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.

Born May 26,1907, in Groveton, Texas, Ms. Grissom was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dorcas Class at Highlands Baptist Church; charter member of Highlands Baptist Church and former resident of La Marque, Texas. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Carl L. and Cathy Grissom of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine and Richard Russell of Hitchcock; brother, Frank Fann of Corrigan, Texas; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emken-Linton Funeral Home Fred J. Gray DENVER Fred J. Gray of Denver, formerly of Galveston and a native of Carthage, Texas, died on Monday, March 1, 1993, of a lengthy illness. He had been disabled and had resided in Denver since June, 1992. Catholic services will be held Saturday for his children and their spouses at 10:00 a.m.

followed by Memorial Services written by Mr. Gray to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage. Interment will follow in New Prospect Cemetery near Beckville, Texas. Mr.

Gray attended Beckville schools from 1948 to 1956. His high school years were spent at Carthage High School where he received his diploma in 1960, graduating in the top five scholastically. subsequently attended Panola College and Stephen F. Austin State University prior to receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in June, 1963 with a double major in history and the English language. Immediately thereafter, he began graduate work at the University of Texas, majoring in history and government.

In 1965, Mr. Gray entered the United States Air Force, went through the Air Force Officers Training School and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon completion. He served overseas on Okinawa where he was involved in Air Force intelligence and communications work. Later he was promoted to Captain and served as a Squadron Commander before leaving the service in 1969. Mr.

Louise Gray, Frederick Joseph Westwood Gray, Tara Kathleen Gray, and Melinda DeeAnne Gray. Mr. Gray began his insurance career with Allstate Insurance Company in 1970 in Monroe and Shreveport, Louisiana. He was subsequently promoted and transferred to Jackson, Mississippi.

In late 1975, he joined the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies in Dallas, serving in various managerial positions in Dallas and Houston. Later he was appointed Assistant Vice President of the company. In 1987, Mr. Gray became Vice President of the American Indemnity Group of Insurance Companies with Home Office in Galveston. In that capacity, he was responsible for the entire claim operation for the Company nationwide.

He re-structured and reorganized the operation into a very efF icient and cost-effective organization. During his career, Mr. Gray was a member of various organizations including the Dallas Claims Associations, the Houston Claims Managers Council, the Dallas Claims Managers Council, the Defense Research Institute, and the claims Vice President's arm of the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies of Texas. For his career achievements, he was selected for Who's Who in Insurance, Who's Who in American Business, and Who's Who Worldwide in business and industry. Mr.

Gray was an active supporter of the Houston Society for the Performing Arts, the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet, the Houston Grand Opera, Theater Under the Stars, and the Galveston Grand 1894 Opera House. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Bonnie Gray, lifelong residents of Carthage. Besides many friends arid relatives in the Panola County area, Mr. Gray is survived by his children, Elizabeth Scarlett Monte of Denver, Colorado; Frederick Joseph Gray of Aurora, Colorado; Tara Kathleen Lunz of Houston, Texas; and Melinda DeeAnne Durbin of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In addition, he is survived by three brothers, James Gray of Lufkin; Weldon Gray of Gary; and Charles Gray of Longview. Also two grandchildren survive, Christopher Durbin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Zachary McKenzie Luna of Houston, Texas. Mottesheard WEBSTER Lloyd Leon Mottesheard, 79, of Hitchcock, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 1993. Mr. Mottesheard was born November 26,1913 in Flemington, MO. and moved to the Gulf Coast in 1956. In 1983, he retired from Gulf Chemical and Metallurgical Company in Texas City as a pip- efitter with 27 years of service.

Mr. Mottesheard was active with the Junior Achievement as an advisor for many years and was a coach with the Little League Baseball in Hitchcock for several years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gertrude Mottesheard; children, George Ann Adams, Kay Bolton, Susan CXRourke, Margaret Mottesheard, Lisa Aylor, Tom Pena, Dan Mottesheard, Paul Mottesheard; sister, Eva Beddoe; 20 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Ed Louis. Pauline Browning SANTA FE Mrs. Pauline Ozella Clark Browning passed from this life Tuesday afternoon in Dickinson, while in her 91st year. Born July 5,1901 in Paris, Texas, Mrs. browning had been a resident of Santa Fe for five years, previously of Tampa, and had been the owner of a laundry for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Bela Jo Clark Britton of Santa Fe; sister, Ruth Sawyer, Lakeland, four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
