In September 1899, at the end of a long summer, the business manager suggested that the proprietor hock his jewelry to carry the enterprise through October. As a byproduct, they have compiled in microfilm files a massive, disorderly history of Arizona and the world. On this, the first day of our second century, we look back to see where Arizona and the newspaper have been. More than 100 staff.members took time during the news of 1990' to write the retrospective.
