Rusek reported that Crawford County Coroner Arden Hughes will perform an autopsy this morning to determine the cause of death. Word of Panion's death spread quickly among students at both Maplewood High School and Titusville High School last night. Panion had many acquaintances in the Titusville Schools. He had attended St. Titus Elementary School in Titusville and his father is a science teacher at Titusville Junior High School.

The youth's mother, a former librarian at St. Titus, is now Spanish teacher at Cambridge Springs High School. His sister, Tonya, a student, also attended St. Titus Elementary. Panion also worked as a Maplewood sports correspondent for The Herald.

He covered Maplewood football games and some girls' volleyball games. Rusek reported that the school has already made arrangements to have counselors available at the school today to speak with any students who need help in handling the death. There will be representatives of Unit nf Mental Health present. In addition, the Student Assistance Program Team, consisting of teachers, guidance counselors, nurses and others, will be available to assist students. "The Student Assistance Team works with students on a variety of issues including drugs, alcohol, academic problems and tragic accidents such as this," Rusek explained.

"This is a tragic thing. Nathan was a beautiful kid you have to ask, whyr Rusek said. Dr. Paul Harakal, Penncrest School District superintendent spoke with The Herald following a school board work session last night. He spoke of the depression both he and the board members felt after learning of Nathan's death.

"We are upset for the family and very depressed that a young man who hasn't had a chance to live his life and reach his potential, is gone," Harakal said. Harakal also reported that the student assistance team would be present at Maplewood this morning. "We are thankful we have a trained staff to help at such times," he added. Representatives of the district's central office will be at Maplewood today as will the secondary supervisor, Harakal said. Funeral arrangements for the teen-ager are incomplete at this time.

MAGEE Mr. Arthur G. Magee, 75, formerly of Bell Wick Hubbard, died of a liver ailment Sunday morning at Kissimmee Memorial Hospital, Kissimmee, FLA, while he was visiting his brother. He was born August 25, 1918 in Centerville, a son of Cletus and Luella Sorts Magee and lived in Hubbard for 45 years prior to moving to Centerville in 1989.

Mr. Magee was an engineer with U.S. Steel Corp. for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1983. He'Was of the Catholic faith' and 1 fi member of the' Moose' Club in Kissimmee, FLA.

He was preceded in death by three wives. His first wife, the former Shirley Ann Semanovich in 1968, his second wife, Dorothy Smith died in 1976 and his third wife, Jennie Kraynak died in 1986. He is survived by two brothers, Lyle of Titusville, PA and Floyd of Kissimmee, FLA; three sisters, Mrs. Velma Proper of Centerville, PA, Mrs. Leona Schmit of Lincolnville, PA, and Mrs.

Evelyn Manninen of Tryonville, PA. Two sisters, Mrs. Marian Lawrence and Mrs. Maxine Weaver are deceased. There are no calling hours or funeral service.

Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Coitsville, OH. Arrangements were by Kelley-Robb Funeral Home, Hubbard, Ohio. PUTNAM Mrs. Maud D.

Putnam, 87, of Centerville, RD 2, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 1994, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Larie Traffis of Titusville, RD 1. Mrs.

Putnam was born at Rome Township, Crawford County, on April 17, 1906, a daughter of the late Guy! DeForest and Lola Hannah Penoyer Daniels. She was married to Leonard Putnam in 1924. Mr. Putnam died Feb. 4, 1977.

She was retired for the, past 22 years. She attended the Centerville Baptist Church and was a member of the Centerville Women's Club. Mrs. Putnam is survived by a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy (Caroline) Greer of Centerville, RD three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs.

Jerome (Larie) Traffiis of Titusville, RD and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig Greer; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Mitchell; and two brothers, Claude Daniels and Henry Daniels. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

and attend the funeral service there at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Norman E. Melser, pastor of the Centerville Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery Centerville.

DEATHS HANSON Blair Hanson, 78, of Wesbury United Methodist Community, a retired professor of modern languages at Allegheny College, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 1994 at Wesbury following a period of failing health. She was born in Bloomington, III, Nov. 2, 1915, a daughter of Frank and Harriet Roman Cavender Hanson. She never married.

D' Hanson retired in 1981 after 42 years as a professor of modern languages Allegheny College, where she also served as chairman of the Department of Modern Languages for 27 years and secretary of the faculty for five years. She was a member of the American Cancer Society of Crawford County and a former board member of its Reach to Recovery Program, a founding member of the Crawford County -READ Program and served on the first Literacy Council. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a date to be determined. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 816 N. Main Meadville, 16335.

HENTON Olive V. Henton, 88, formerly of 149 W. Bond Corry, died on Sunday, Feb. 6, 1994, at the Conner's Personal Care Home, County Line Road, Corry, RD 1, where she was a resident. She was born in Bog Hollow near Hydetown on Oct.

20, 1903, a daughter of the late James M. and Kate S. Hoovler Ross. Mrs. Henton went to Edinboro Normal School where she received her teaching degree.

She then taught at Red Oak School in Red Oak for a short time. Following her marriage, she moved to Corry where she worked for the former Racket Store, also the former Grants Store and the Areo Supply Co. in Corry during World War II. She then worked for the former Superior Dry Cleaning in Corry. She was then co-owner and manager of the former Dry Cleaners, 26 W.

Main St. for 18 years until' Capwell's purchased the store in 1974 and was employed there until 1978. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Corry and was also a member of the Corry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, tating and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bell Halfast and Elizabeth Chambers.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley K. Henton of Corry whom she married in Hydetown on June 8, 1926. She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Don O. (Beverly) Bras well of Corry; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home in Corry from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Corry with Rev. Robert Rhodabarger officiating.
