Editor, The News: The billions that President Roosevelt has asked of the congress and which they will probably grant to him is "pump priming" on a colossal scale. One of the things which it is expected to do is to let the railroads have billions for new equipment and the government to take security on the equipment for what they loan to the railroads. The railroads can use the equipment, wear it out and say to the government, here is the equipment, we can't pay for it, take it or give us some more of the same kind or we will go into bankruptcy; our bonds arc nothing but paper and the bondholders, principally the big insurance companies, will go to the wall along with us.

If you don't want this to happen give us another dose of equipment and don't think for a minute they won't get it and you, Mr. Taxpayer, will dig up some more invisible taxes. The manufacturer wants money and he is going to get it, not to manufacture more stud but to hold onto the goods that are in his warehouses, he is not able to sell because there is no work, for the further reason there is no money in circulation. If there was money in circulation, there would be plenty of demand for goods. Money loaned to manufacturers now will go into banks and safety deposit.

Loans from banks would be paid and that would end the circulation. If the public had money then it would circulate. The railroads have all the equipment they need for the business they now have. The money that will be loaned to the railroads and business is out and out inflation and will be about as valuable to legitimate business as a whirlwind in the dust bowl of the prairies. We have had 18 billion dollars worth of inflation and we are now 13 million unemployed "in the hole." How many more billions will have to be spent on inflation before the taxpayer will want to know what's going on here? The chairman of the most powerful committee in congress is from North Carolina and there are mighty few southern members of congress that are willing to see a "nigger" get a pension under the Townscnd plan.

The chairman of the committee is not known particularly for his ability and but few people outside of congress even know his name, but he is a power and will not let the Townsend welfare bill be taken out of it's pigeon hole and the same bunch are against the wage and hour law. This country wants circulation of money, not inflation. We have had enough of that and it has been tried sufficiently so that wo know it won't work and only increased our debt and to continue this way will be i ARGONNEBOYS TO COMPETE IN MARBLE EVENT Tournament to Be Held Saturday to Select Champion for County Meet.
