Abt UV, furlongs. (Second leg of TA.B. Double). I Dandenong got to within eight points or the Boroughs in 1967 and 1964, but a greater will-to-win and a "needle" from the previous memorable clashes at Port could give it the taste of victory for the first time at Port. Port, with successive wins over Brunswick, Wav-erley and Yarraville, is developing into a more settled line-up after poor displays against Prahran and Sand-ringham.

Shane McKew, Gary Brice and Clive Pasqulll form an attacking half-forward line, and could be too fast for the Dandenong half-back line led by Jim McNamara. But it is difficult to visualise the Boroughs' defence holding Paddy Guln-an. "will o' the wisp" Pat F. lerty and "Frosty" Miller, who showed he is back in top form with seven goals last week. The ruck duels should be close.

John Gardner is having a great first season for Port and rover Norm Goss has been brilliant around the packs. But Gardner lacks big-man support and Dandenong ruckman Eddie Melai, Ian Abraham and Alan Morrow could be too strong after half-time. All-out Dandenong has potential match winners on every line, but too much has been left to too few this season, and all players must combine in a 100 minutes effort if Dandenong is to reach the finals. In the words of secretary Mr. Lionel Farrow: "If all players fired at the same time, no team would hold them." WAVERLEY and YARRAVILLE meet in a danger game for both sides at Waverley tomorrow.

The Panthers must win to have any final four hopes, and Yarraville needs a vic tory to remain within strik ing distance of the leaders- Waverley, if it is wet, $2000. 1 907 2 600 3 500 WONG ALA GLEN, 8 MYSTIC ROBERT, 7 3-5 ADONIS BEAU, 9 2-5 McKenile fr. W. White fr. fr.

Conditions yesterday were worse for golf than on the opening day, with fierce showers lashing the course and gusty winds adding to the problems on the putting greens. Through these appalling conditions Phillips played like a master, keeping the ball low into the wind, and hitting it long. Trailing Phillips by one stroke after a magnificent 72, is Brian Boys (NZ), but Peter Harvey, the overnight leader, was never happy in the hard going and struggled to break 80. 146. F.

Boosted by its two newcomers, Melbourne could gain its first points for several weeks when it clashes with George Cross, at St.

The duel between Ray Davies and Alan Poore in the centre will be a highlight, but Yarraville's tight defence should hold a disorganised Waverley attack, which features ruckman Ross Warner in a new position, at full-forward. PRESTON, already showing the brilliant form that won last year's flag, appears too strong for GEE-LONG WEST, which has disappointed recently after a promising start. Bob Heard will generate Preston's drive from the ruck, and opportunist rovers Denis Aspinall and Bruce Reid will capitalise on every chance.

Give drive Laurie Hill and Len Clark "arrived" in VFA football last week, and should again give Preston plenty of drive with their long-kicking, attacking style, while centre-man Dick Telford is approaching his best form. SANDRINGHAM, despite the loss of key players Darrell Mackenzie and Bill Walford should bounce back with a win against struggling OAKLEIGH. Johnny Ward should add bite to the forward line, which failed badly against Preston last week, but he will strike a tough opponent in Oakleigh captain Norm Luff, who is approaching top form after missing the early games because of an injury. Hancock, By Peg McMahon The last putt on the last green in the last game saved Metropolitan from relegation in the top division of women's pennant golf at Kingston Heath yesterday. major changes to the Two of the newcomers will play with when the Yugoslav side clashes with leader Ringwood City in the most important game of the round at Schintler Reserve tomorrow. They are Dragoljub Utje-senovic, a 21-year-old fullback from OFK Belgrade, and Slobodan Lukic, a 20-year-old forward from Ri-jeka. Both reached Melbourne yesterday, and, having played in Yugoslavia until last week, will be fielded for tomorrow's clash in an effort to topple Ringwood. The other two players are Yugoslav winger Steve Bleskany, and Scottish utility player Norman Davie.

They will play for Melbourne. Although Utjesenovic and Lukic are players proved ability (each was selected for the Yugoslav under-23 team), it is doubtful whether they will be, at their best tomorrow. However, Footscray has enough ability to be given a good chance to beat Ringwood at home, and pave the way for a change in the league ladder. But Ringwood is a consistently improving team, and will be fighting all the way to consolidate its place at the top. Footscray is likely to play an attacking game, while Ringwood will rely on its strong defence and on the ability of its forwards to score in breakaway moves.

Second-placed South Melbourne Hellas will face a tough hurdle when it meets last year's champicn, Croatia, at Olympic Pari: tomorrow. This is likely to be a thriller as Croatia is trying to lift itself from the Box Hill's top Monara, Cran. 63 f. 2-Y-O. SepL 16.

Box Hill will almost guarantee its place in the Victorian Rugby Union final four if it out-speeds Footscray at Olympic Park today. Footscray is the heaviest team that the light Hillmen will meet, and if they use their dash effectively they will have proved their ability against all teams. Box Hill has a well-Ulended side no one outstanding and it also has the ability to have all 15 players click at the same time. Full-back Pat McGoldrick, of Box Hill, has uncanny anticipation, and the unusual quality of keeping his speedy backs always eager for tries. The Hill's main trouble may be the heavy pitch, but it has managed to adjust T.A.B.
