A large group of friends and relatives spent a happy afternoon as the Holcombs are excellent hosts. Several car loads of stockholders of the Citizens Service Oil company drove to Swea City last Tuesday for the annual meeting. Dinner was served to about 200 at the Lutheran church at 12 o'clock and an interesting program followed. George Nyman is president; Roy Nichols, manager, and Clayton Roalson and Selmar are tank men. Clinton Vaux and his bride of Mount Vernon, Washington, spent Thursday afternoon and evening visiting the Samuel Wa'rburtons.

They are spending a few days with' Clinton's father at Swea City and he is a warm friend of the War- burtons. Samuel Warburton, who has been ill for several months, is able to be around the house part of the time. Mesdames Harry Walter Leslie and A. T. Buckels entertained the W.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller returned the middle of last week from a faw weeks' trip in the south. They took their niece, Mrs. Perry White nnd son, who had been visiting at Estherville for several weeks to her home in Hamilton, Ohio.

The trip home was made enroute through New Orleans and southern Texas. Loo Wussenberg of St. Paul was in Algona Monday visiting at the home of his sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. E.

Linnan. Mr. Wassenberg, who has been with Mid-Continent Air Lines for some time has resigned his position as one of their pilots and has joined the TWA flyers in the transportation service of the government. Or. L.

W. Fox returned Sunday from Tucson, Arizona, where he had been for a month with Mrs. Fox and son, Bill, who spend the school year there in the interests of Bill's health. Ashetford returned to his home in Miles City, Montana, last week, after a few days in Algonn at the home of his sister, Hutchins, and visiting old friends. He was enroute from Rockford, Illinois, whare he had visited his sister, Mrs. E. J. Osterbauer.

While there he and his brothen-in-iaw had rescued two persons from a burning automobile involved in an ac cident near Rockford. "Grease Monkey" Kathryn Rownes, former Onawa girl and school teacher, is now working with tools in the repair and maintenance department of Pan-American Airways.
