September 27,1956 NUMBER 46 Attention Mobile X-Ray The fnobile X-ray unit from our Texas Health Department will be in Brookshire, to serve Brookshire, Pattison and the Humble plant citizens, October 5 from 1:80 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and again on October 6 from 8:30 a.m.

until 5:30 p.m. The purpose of this unit is to free, for all chest abnonnttties. discernable to X-ray. All people over fifteen years of age are urged to take advantage of this X-ray privilege. Well people need a chest X-ray each year.

A number of local residents will be working as hostesses and clerks during these two days. There is no need for disrobing or being uncomfortable in anyway. Eddie Dltin, 51, Killed Instantly When Car Slips Eddie Frank Divin, 51.

was killed almost instantly Sunday afternoon while he was adjusting the brakes of a friend's car at Christian's Drive-In, 6502 Washington Ave. Mr. Divin was working under the car belonging to F. M. Christian, 37, owner of the drive-in, when the right rear side of the vehicle slipped from the jack and he received a blow on the temple as the car bounced.

The mechanic's three youngest Albert and Herbert, 12, and Earl, 9 the accident. Mr. Christian told Horn! cide Detectives J. 0. Brannon and Virgil Hart that Mr.

Divin told him to get in the car and start the engine. After starting the engine, Mr. Christian said, felt the car move and knew it had slipped off the bumper jack. The right rear wheel of the car had been lifted by the bumper jack. The other three wheels had been chocked by cement blocks.

Rosary was recited at 7:30 Monday evening in the Waller Funeral' Home Chapel and funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock with Rev. A. W. Raye, pastor of the Hempstead Catholic Church officiating. Interment was in the Wafler Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Divin was born November 9, 1904. He lived most of his Waller Co. hear Waller. Km September 30, 1924, he married Miss Lizzie Frey of Waller.

They would have observed their 32nd wedding anniversary this Sunday. Mr. Divin always liked mechanics work and much of his time off was spent in helping for the material gain but for the want of helping a friend. He -was a mechanic and worked in the Salt mine until they moved to Houston sixteen years ago. They bought a home there but six years ago he was employed as a mechanic and he moved the family here.

He happily told friends Saturday evening that they were going to go to church in Houston Sunday and spend the day with friends. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Rosa Lee, Mrs. John Norville of Katy, six sons, Ernest and Julius of Spring Branch, Eddie Joe, Herbert, Albert and Earl of Katy; grandchildren; four brothers, Louis of El Campo, Willie and Alfred of Waller, and W. J. of Katy; two sisters, Mrs.

Reimer of Waller and Mrs. Fannie Divin of Wallis. Ed Fuller Dies InSImonton Graveside funeral services for Ed Fuller, 75, of Simonton were held on Sunday at the Fulshear cemetery. Rev. Otis Sutton officiated.

Ed Sledge Mrs. Cynthia Etna (Morgan) Sledge, 67, died Thursday. September 20 at 9 p.m. at the home of her son, Harry, in Houston. Services were held Saturday in Hempstead.

Survivors include three sons, Roland, Harry, and Lee Allen, of Houston and one daughter, Lillian, Mrs. John Carl Amsler of Hempstead; six grandchildren, and ,2 great grandchildren; three brothers, Ira, Ned, and Willie Morgan; four sisters, D. Halbison, Miss Delia Mor- in, Mrs; Eula Cauthern of rookshire and Mrs. Virdie Morgan of California. Mrs.

Sledge was born in the Bracy Island Community of Waller She married Mr, Edward Sledge in 1907. They lived all their lives in Waller except for a few years in Katy. Mr. Sledge died in May, 1951,. Brown and Roof Awarded Contract For Street Paving The contract for finishing the 10 blocks of streets in the City of Brookshire now under construction, has been awarded to Brown and Root.
