C. P. Wohlers), at the Brunswick mayoral ball last night. Many Asian guests were among the 700 people present. The debutante set was led by Miss Mahesh, of Malaya, and Mr.

Zadik Dean, Fijian. The debutantes wore similar fulllength frocks of white nylon tulle made with overskirts of lace-trimmed nylon. They carried small flower posies. Cr. and Mrs.

Wohlers were assisted by the town clerk (Mr. H. W. Foletta) in welcoming the guests. Debutantes were Lynette a Graham, Barbara Menzies, Diane Beckett, Anne Lowe, Diane Holland, Joan Hamilton, Pauline Ramsay, Marion Miller, Joan Price and Faye Kendall.

Garden Scene TWELVE similar debutantes, wearing frocks with pastelcolored bodices under white chantilly lace and bouffant nylon skirts, were presented to the mayor and mayoress of Camberwell (Cr. and Mrs. R. C. Cooper) last night at the mayoral ball.

It was held in the Hawthorn town hall. The girls presented were Noeline Boyle, Susan Baird, Susanne Brittain, Christine Edmunds, Sandra Fiander, Jennifer Green, Vivienne Harding, Robyn Mee Sue McConville, Jillian Parker, Lorelle Ritchie and Briar Worth. The stage setting was an informal garden scene. A fountain was set against a background of natural rock formation and autumn foliage, surrounded variegated coleus and begonias, chrysanthemums, marigolds. The entrance foyer WAS decorated with large chrysanthemums.

The mayor and mayoress were assisted by the Chief Administrator (Mr. L. F. Cheffers) and Mrs. Cheffers in receiving the 800 guests.

Green and Gold A ball GREEN was held and by gold the Past Pupils' Association of the Presentation Convent, Windsor, last night at the Palais, St. Kilda. Green and gold are the colors of the convent and were used for all the decorations. Table decorations featured green and gold baskets, filled with fern and bright gold flowers. Forty debutantes, wearing individual white frocks and carrying gold and white carnations, were presented to the president of the association (Mrs.

V. May) and Mr. May. Mrs. May wore a peacock tulle and silk taffetas gown, caught up with roses at the hem.

Mr. and Mrs. May received the 650 guests, who in cl ded representatives from past pupils' associations of Kildara, Assumption College, Kilmore; C.B.C., St. Kilda, and the Star of the Sea Convent and O'Neill College, Elsternwick. Proceeds from the ball will aid the school building fund.

School Chapel Ceremony THE marriage of Margot Jeanne, eldest daughter of Colonel and Mrs. F. J. Davey, of Toorak, with Mr. Michael Cranston Woods took place yesterday at Melbourne Grammar School Chapel.

Canon P. St. J. Wilson officiated at the choral service. A gown of white pure silk satin, with a high neckline, long sleeves and a straight skirt, draped back into an Edwardian bustle and train, was worn by the bride.

Her long veil was held by 8 satin headdress and caught at the back of the head with two roses. She carried gardenias and lily of the valley. Mrs. Lynton Morgan was matron of honor, and the bride's sister, 1 Miss Deirdre Davey, and Miss Susan Horne were bridesmaids. Their frocks were of silk taffetas, and in their hair was a wisp of veiling, held with a rose.

They carried Colins Shirt day, white azaleas and lily of the valley. Two 10-year-old flower girls, the bride's sister, Lorelle Davey, and Robin England, were also in the bridal group. The bridegroom is the elder son of Mrs. Vincent Woods, of Malvern, and the late Mr. Woods.

His best man was Mr. Geoffrey Vaughan, and the groomsmen were the bride's brother, Mr. Fred Davey, and the bridegroom's brother, Mr. Terence Woods. A reception was held by the bride's parents at the home of the bride's godmother, Mrs.

George Nicho- To Work for Old People Miss Sybil Irving has joined the staff of the Old People's Welfare Council. She will visit work with elderly citizens' clubs in suburban and nearer country areas. Miss Irving will be welcomed to the council by the chairman (Sir Giles Chippindall) at a late afternoon party tomorrow. It will be held at the Lyceum Club, by courtesy of the assistant director of the council, Miss Lyra Taylor. Children's Films Blow Your Own Trumpet is the film which will be shown next Saturday at the Union Theatre, University of Melbourne, at 2.30.

The film afternoon has been arranged the Victorian Council for Children's Films and Television.
