Mr. and Mrs. Algot Atidersbn went to Salina Wednesday and Mrs. C. H.

Freed accompanied them and visited her daughter, Mrs. H. R. Reynolds, Suki Jean and Cheryl. Cheryl returned home with them that evening and visited until Sunday.

Mrs. Glen Currie, who underwent major surgery at the hospital in Concordia, was able to return home Friday. The birthday of Wallace Freed was marked Tuesday evening at the home of his father, A. C. Freed with a dinner.

Those present were Wallace and Don Freed, Mrs. Mavis Rockwell and Mark, A. C. Freed, Mr. and Mrs.

Melvin Huffman and Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Freed.

Lyle Marshall, Mr. Marshall and children at Benton, and her son. Glen and Mrs. Johnson and family at Little I Rock, Ark. She was called there by the illness of Mrs.

Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Granstedt and Mr. and Chester Anderson were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr.

Eakins mOwed to Nebraska at an age and when he was 14 he 'Oarae to Kansas, living the rest of life near Hubbell, and Kan. He was married September 4, (ifiOl, to Essie J. Boyer, and to this union tjwo children were born, Mrs. Georgra Bever of Narka and J. Eakins of Everett, Wash.

A Soph after their marriage, Mr. and Mi-s. Eakiiis began farming on a rented farm near Hubbell, and in 1910' purchased a farm in that community. They lived there until 1931 when they moved to Narka. Jim, as he wjas known to friends and acquaintances, was a- man of many sterling qualities.

He was honest in all his dealings, had simple tastes and found pleasure in honest toil, working longer than he was able. When his health failed, he was concerned for the welfare of his family and the fact that he could no longer work. Eakins was a member of the Presbyterian church and a trustee for nine Two sisters him in death, Mrs. -Mary Wolfe of Hope and Mrs. Emma Johnson of Superior, who on November 2 of this year.

He leavei to mourn his passing his widow, a son and a daughter, three grandchildren; a half Bister, Mrs. Sylvia Dovel of Narka; a half brother, Albert Eakins of Sharpsville, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday from Narka Presbyterian church, conducted by the Rev. Harry Hirsch. Interment was in Maplte Grove cemetery.

Edward Mapes (Bv The Telesorpe's Cuba Corr.t Edward Mapes, son of Nelson and Tresie Mapes, was born ember 13, 1883, on a faim Fiist of Cuba, and passed away. December 3, 1951, at the age 68 years and 20 days. Edward spent much of his iife' in the community where he born. He was preceded in death by hi's parents, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors are his two brothers, William of Broughton, and Wesley of Butte, and two Emma Hubbard of Cuba and Agries House of Hutchinson, other relatives and friends.

Services were held at Bachelor-, Faulkner-Dart furieral, home in Bellieville on December 5, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. James Gray officiated, and interment was in Mill Creek cemetfery. Eric Sven son of and MfS' Marvin Larson of Topeka, celebrated his first birthday last July 7. He is the grandson of Mrs.

Ruby Lai'son of Belleville anl Mrs. Ada PuUis of Louisville, Ky. The above picture was taken when Eric was 15 months old.
