l-ALOONA (low.) ADVANCf THURSDAY, PtB. 10,19M ZITA XI MEETING Zeta Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met February 7 at Floy Hershberger's. They will sponsor a children's movie on March 5 at 10 a.m. at the Algona Theater. Richard Basehart will star in "For the Love of Mike" plus six color cartoons. Tickets for 50c may be purchased from the members or at the theater. Franrie Ziegler has been added to the banquet committee. A couples party will be held at the Jim Cowan home February 19. The lesson was by Conine Shimel on Nature and Landscape and the Artist's Landscape. Next meeting date is changed to February 21 at Maroia Nelson's. • FAMILY DINNER A family dinner was held Sunday at Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Burtis' honoring Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Crutcher and Mrs. Tom Davis of Bloomington, 111. who were houseguests of Mrs. Fran- G£S Moe. Among, those in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Moe, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moe, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davis of New Haven and the respective families. Coming from other towns were relatives and their families from Hampton, Milford, Estheirville, and Britt; eighty-four assembled in all. BIRTHDAY GUESTS Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Johnson are having their son Larry Johnson and family as dinner guests Sunday, February . 13, honoring Larry's birthday. February 11 is the birthday of John ; Thompson and the Larry John;sons are having him and his I wife as dinner guests Friday. <The Thompsons are parents of !Mrs. Larry Johnson. 53RD WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heimer were at Clarion Sunday where they were dinner guests of Mrs. Heimer's brother and sister-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Martin. ^Other guests were the parents, 'Mr. and Mrs. Lee Martin, whose (ifty4Wrd wedding anniversary ;was being observed. GOLDEN WEDDING Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Hall were at Sioux < Falls, S.D. last week Sunday to attend a family din ner honoring the Golden wedding anniversary of Mrs. Hall's parents,. Mr. and Mrs. William, Walters. Thirty relatives were in attendance. OBSERVE BIRTHDAYS Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jaques and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Baxter were afternoon coffee guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hanson. The birthdays of Ida Mae Baxter and Pamela Hansen were observed. BEL CANTO CLUB MEETS The Bel Canto club meets Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Wesley Bartlett. The program will be a "Gilbert and Sullivan Review" by Irene Jensen, Opal Bourne, Doris Stevens and Corrinne Shimel. Engaged MR. AND MRS. Donald C. Ferris of 804 South Jones Street, Algona, announce the engagement of Charlene LaBarre, daughter of Mrs. Ferris and the late Robert C. LaBarre, to John Michael Connelly, son of John F. Connelly of Duluth, Minn. She is a graduate of Iowa State and is affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta. He graduated from St. John's university, Collegeville, Minn., and is a member of Phi Kappa Theta. Mr. Connelly is an analytical chemist for the United States Atomic Energy Commission at Ames. She is a nursery school teacher at National Jewish hospital in Denver., Colo. A July wedding is planned. Engaged AFTERNOON COFFEE Mrs. Fred Geigel gave a coffee Thursday afternoon honoring Diane Rentz whose engagement and approaching marriage to Duanna Hannover has been announced. Fourteen guests were present. M-D BANQUET A Mothers and Daughters banquet of women of Union township was held Thursday, February 10 at the Methodist church, local members of the W.S.C.S. serving. HAS BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Keith Strayer were visited last weekend by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Rule, Hoi- stein. The birthday of Mr. Strayer was observed. The Glenn Segers announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Ann, to Roger L. Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Cunningham, Waverly. Both are in college at Iowa City. A June wedding is planned at the First Methodist church here. CLUB DATES DINNER Riverdale Friendly club met Feb. 2nd at Loretta Thilges 1 with Magdalene Zeller assisting. Thirteen members were present, and five visitors. The next meeting is March 2 at Mary Casey's, a pot luck dinner. AT MEXICO MEET The Harold C. Sundets attended Midwest Life's 1966 national sales meeting in Mexico City, Feb. 4-8. Mr. Sundet is agent in Algona. DELPHIAN CLUB MEETS The Delphian club meets ' Tuesday, February 15 for a luncheon at the Johnson House. Mrs. Lloyd Robinson is in charge of the program. SEWING CLUB Mrs. Otto Engstrom entertained her sewing club Tuesday afternoon.
